About B-Dine Gargle

B-Dine Gargle is an antiseptic and disinfectant used to treat sore throat. It also treats and prevents infections of the mouth and throat lining, such as gingivitis (inflammation of the gums) and mouth ulcers. B-Dine Gargle is also used to cleanse the mouth for preparation of the oral mucosa before any injection, dental surgery or tooth extraction.

B-Dine Gargle contains Povidone iodine. It works by inhibiting the growth of infection-causing microbes. As a small molecule, iodine can easily penetrate microorganisms and oxidise essential proteins, nucleotides, and fatty acids, leading to cell death. It is effective against bacteria, fungi, viruses, and protozoa.

Use B-Dine Gargle as directed by a doctor. B-Dine Gargle may cause common side effects, such as mouth or throat irritation, dryness of the mouth and throat, and a burning sensation. These side effects gradually resolve over time and do not require medical attention. However, if the side effects persist longer, please seek medical help.

Brief your medical history to the doctor if you are allergic to iodine or povidone. Let your doctor know if you have thyroid diseases, liver, and kidney problems before starting B-Dine Gargle . Please tell your doctor if you are undergoing any lithium therapy or treatment involving radioactive iodine. What if I have taken an overdose of B-Dine Gargle

Use B-Dine Gargle as directed by your doctor. In case of accidental swallowing of large quantities of B-Dine Gargle , it may result in acute iodine toxicity. It may cause abdominal symptoms, decreased urine production, pulmonary oedema, circulatory failure, or metabolic abnormalities. Seek medical help immediately if you experience any of these symptoms.

Drug Warnings

Do not use B-Dine Gargle if you are allergic to povidone-iodine. Let your doctor know if you have an overactive thyroid gland (hyperthyroidism) or any other thyroid diseases (nodular colloid goitre, endemic goitre or Hashimoto’s thyroiditis), liver, or kidney problems. Please consult your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to conceive or are a lactating mother before using B-Dine Gargle . B-Dine Gargle should be used in children under twelve years of age only when the doctor has advised it.

B-Dine Gargle will not stain your teeth. The natural brown colour of B-Dine Gargle is due to its component, Povidone iodine. However, it may sometimes cause discolouration of dentures and braces. Therefore, remove them if possible before using B-Dine Gargle .
