Betadine Vaginal Pessaries is used in the treatment of vaginal infections caused by bacteria and fungi. About Betadine Vaginal Pessaries

Betadine Vaginal Pessaries is a fungicidal, bactericidal, and trichomonacidal agent used to treat vaginal infections, including vaginal candidiasis, Gardnerella vaginitis/bacterial vaginosis (bacterial overgrowth in the vagina), trichomonal infections, and vaginal inflammation/vaginitis.

Betadine Vaginal Pessaries contains Povidone Iodine that works by inhibiting the growth of infection-causing microbes. It is effective against infections caused by bacteria, fungi, viruses, yeast, and protozoa. Thereby, Betadine Vaginal Pessaries relieves vaginal soreness, itching, and irritation.

Common side effects of Betadine Vaginal Pessaries include vaginal pain/soreness, burning sensation, irritation, itching, swelling, redness in the vaginal area, and vaginal dryness. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. If these side effects persist longer, please consult your doctor.

  • Trichomoniasis: Betadine Vaginal Pessaries is also used to treat common sexually transmitted infections (STIs) like Trichomoniasis caused by a parasite called Trichomonas vaginalis.
  • Pre-Operative Vaginal Antisepsis: Betadine Vaginal Pessaries is used before gynaecological procedures or surgeries to minimise the risk of infections.

Directions for Use

  • Follow your doctor's instructions regarding the dosage and duration for effective results.
  • Lie relaxed on your back and bend your legs by lifting your knees. Gently insert the pessary into the vagina using the index finger. Bring your legs together, stay lying on one side, for at least 5 minutes to prevent the pessary from falling out.
  • Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water after use.
  • In case the pessary appears to have softened while in the pack, then keep it in a vertical position with the pointed end facing down in the refrigerator for 15 minutes before using it.
  • The pessary should be moistened with water before inserting.
  • Not to be taken by mouth. For vaginal administration only.
