Olwax Ear Drops 10 ml belongs to the class of medications called ‘Otic agents’ used to soften the impacted earwax. Earwax build-up occurs due to an ear infection, inflammation, injury, or other conditions such as bone deformations in the ear, skin diseases such as eczema (skin inflammation), or narrowed ear canals.

Olwax Ear Drops 10 ml contains Paradichlorobenzene, Benzocaine, Chlorbutol, and Turpentine oil. Paradichlorobenzene acts as a hydrating agent. It softens the ear wax by reducing its thickness. Benzocaine acts as a local anaesthetic and prevents pain. Chlorbutol acts as a wax softener. Turpentine oil acts as a lubricating agent. Together, Olwax Ear Drops 10 ml helps soften the ear wax.

Olwax Ear Drops 10 ml is for otic (ear) use only. The common side-effects of Olwax Ear Drops 10 ml are difficulty sleeping, skin irritation, redness, and headache. These side-effects are usually mild and temporary that doesn’t require medical attention. However, inform your doctor if any of these side effects persist or worsen.

Do not use Olwax Ear Drops 10 ml if you are allergic to any of its contents; if you have inflamed ear canal, perforated eardrum, or eczema (skin inflammation) on the outer ear.  It is not recommended for use in children below 1 year of age. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Inform your doctor regarding other prescription, non-prescription or herbal medicines you are taking to prevent any side effects/interactions.

Olwax Ear Drops 10 ml is a combination of four medicines: Paradichlorobenzene, Benzocaine, Chlorbutol, and Turpentine oil. Paradichlorobenzene acts as a hydrating agent. Do not use Olwax Ear Drops 10 ml if you notice any swelling, discharge from the ears, or tinnitus (ringing sounds in the ears), as it may indicate ear inflammation. While instilling the ear drops, do not push the dropper into the ear. Olwax Ear Drops 10 ml is not recommended for use in children below one year of age. Before taking Olwax Ear Drops 10 ml, inform your doctor if you have hearing problems (including deafness), intestinal problems (including blockage, swelling, ulcers), kidney problems, myasthenia gravis (neuromuscular disease), and Parkinson's disease. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
