About SEPGARD LOTION

SEPGARD LOTION belongs to the class of ‘hemostatic agents’ primarily used for the management of postoperative wounds, cuts, and abrasions. Post-operative wounds are surgical cuts made during operations that require careful aftercare to avoid infection and aid healing. Cuts, or lacerations, are injuries caused by sharp objects like glass or knives and can vary in depth and severity depending on the force and location. Abrasions, on the other hand, are surface-level scrapes where the top layer of skin is rubbed off, typically from contact with rough surfaces.

SEPGARD LOTION contains Feracrylum, which acts as a local hemostatic and antiseptic agent. It helps stop bleeding by forming a protein-based barrier over wounds, promoting clot formation, and controlling oozing. Additionally, it has strong antimicrobial properties that protect the injured area from bacterial and fungal infections. Its moisture-attracting nature supports wound healing by keeping the area hydrated and ensuring that dressings don’t stick, which makes removal less painful and reduces further skin damage. Thus, it effectively treats surgical wounds, cuts, burns, and abrasions.

Use SEPGARD LOTION as advised by your doctor. The common side effects of SEPGARD LOTION include a burning sensation and irritation at the application site. These side effects do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor.

SEPGARD LOTION is for topical (for skin) use only. Avoid contact with the eyes and mouth. Let your doctor know if you are allergic to SEPGARD LOTION or have kidney/liver diseases before using it. SEPGARD LOTION should be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding only if the doctor has prescribed it. Consult your doctor before using SEPGARD LOTION in children. Keep the doctor informed about your medical conditions and medications to prevent interactions/side effects.

Uses of SEPGARD LOTION

SEPGARD LOTION is used for the management of postoperative wounds, cuts, and abrasions. The detailed uses of SEPGARD LOTION are as follows:
• Antimicrobial activity: SEPGARD LOTION is effective against both gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria. It also has antifungal properties which help in reducing the risk of wound infection.
• Haemostatic action: SEPGARD LOTION forms a biodegradable complex with albumin to create a protective barrier; stops capillary bleeding within 2–3 minutes; non-allergic and does not get absorbed into the bloodstream.
• Hygroscopic action: SEPGARD LOTION maintains a moist environment at the wound site, promoting faster healing and making dressing removal easier; supports the growth of healthy granulation tissue.
Directions for Use

 • Follow your doctor's instructions on the dosage and timing of this medication to ensure safety.
 • Pour SEPGARD LOTION directly onto the bleeding area, or transfer it into a sterile container. Soak sterile gauze pieces in the solution, then use the saturated gauze to gently dab and clean the bleeding site. Once the bleeding has stopped, carefully remove the soaked gauze.
 • Clean and dry the affected area before application.
 • It is only for external use.

Medicinal Benefits

SEPGARD LOTION contains Feracrylum, which is a local hemostatic and topical antiseptic agent. It works by forming a complex with albumin protein and promotes clot formation to prevent bleeding. It also has antimicrobial action and prevents infection in post-operative wounds, cuts, burns, and abrasions. It controls intra- and post-operative oozing and ensures a clear field of vision. Feracrylum also aids in the healing of the bleeding surface and reduces the frequency of cauterisation (heating the body tissues to prevent bleeding) and the need for blood transfusion.
