Unwanted-72 Tablet is used to prevent unintended pregnancy and hormone therapy. It is used as a single agent in emergency contraception, and as a hormonal contraceptive released from an intrauterine device (IUD). It is the most commonly used emergency contraceptive. It contains Levonorgestrel, which prevents the release of an egg from the ovary (female reproductive cells) or prevents fertilization of an egg by sperm (male reproductive cells). It may also change the lining of the uterus to prevent the development of a pregnancy. It does not have any effect if you are already pregnant; hence, it does not cause abortion. In some cases, you may experience nausea, vomiting, lower abdominal pain, tiredness, headache, diarrhoea, dizziness and uterine bleeding.

About Unwanted-72 Tablet

Unwanted-72 Tablet is a female hormone called progestin (a form of progesterone) used to prevent unintended pregnancy and hormone therapy. Unwanted-72 Tablet is used as a single agent in emergency contraception, and as a hormonal contraceptive released from an intrauterine device (IUD).  Unwanted-72 Tablet is the most commonly used emergency contraceptive. Unintended pregnancy is a pregnancy that occurred either unwanted when no children or no more children were desired. Also, pregnancy is mistimed, such as the pregnancy occurred earlier than desired.

Unwanted-72 Tablet contains 'Levonorgestrel', which prevents the release of an egg from the ovary (female reproductive cells) or prevents fertilization of an egg by sperm (male reproductive cells). Unwanted-72 Tablet may also change the lining of the uterus to prevent the development of a pregnancy. Unwanted-72 Tablet does not have any effect if you are already pregnant; hence, it does not cause abortion.

Unwanted-72 Tablet should be taken preferably within 12 hours and not later than 72 hours (3 days) of having unprotected sex or contraceptive failure. In some cases, you may experience nausea, vomiting, lower abdominal pain, tiredness, headache, diarrhoea, dizziness and uterine bleeding. Most of these side effects of Unwanted-72 Tablet subside with time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor.

Do not take Unwanted-72 Tablet if you are allergic to Unwanted-72 Tablet or any of the ingredients. Do not take Unwanted-72 Tablet if you are already pregnant, as Unwanted-72 Tablet cannot terminate the pregnancy. St John’s Wort (a natural remedy used to treat mild depression) should not be taken when taking Unwanted-72 Tablet as it is known to interact.

Uses of Unwanted-72 Tablet

Unwanted-72 Tablet is used for Emergency Contraception. The detailed uses of Unwanted-72 Tablet are as follows:
• Emergency Contraception: Unwanted-72 Tablet is used as an emergency contraceptive pill to avoid pregnancy when taken within 72 hours of intercourse.
• Post-Coital Contraception: Unwanted-72 Tablet is used to prevent pregnancy when other techniques such as condoms or birth control tablets are ineffective.
• Regulating Menstrual Cycle: Under doctor supervision, Unwanted-72 Tablet is primarily used to regulate the menstrual cycle for some people.
• When usual Contraceptives Are Not Available: It helps women avoid pregnancy when they are unable to take their usual contraceptive pills.

Directions for Use

Unwanted-72 Tablet should be taken in dose and duration as recommended by your doctor. Take Unwanted-72 Tablet with a meal to avoid stomach upset. Swallow it as a whole with a glass of water. Do not chew, crush or break it.

Unwanted-72 Tablet should be taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex when no contraception was used during the sexual intercourse or if the contraception measure was used incorrectly.

Take Unwanted-72 Tablet exactly as advised by the doctor. Unwanted-72 Tablet should be swallowed as a whole with water. It should be taken preferably within 12 hours, and no later than 72 hours (3 days) after you have had unprotected sex.

Unwanted-72 Tablet prevents about 84% of expected pregnancies if taken within 72 hours of having unprotected sex. It is more effective if you take it as soon as possible after unprotected sex.

Levonorgestrel may pass into breast milk. Please consult the doctor if you are breastfeeding.

Unwanted-72 Tablet should only be used in emergencies and not as a regular method of contraception.

Unwanted-72 Tablet is effective if you have had frequent acts of intercourse in a short span of time. However, it is important that these acts have occurred within 72 hours before taking Unwanted-72 Tablet. Also, since there is a chance of unintended pregnancy after frequent acts of unprotected sex in the same cycle, it is advisable to use a barrier contraceptive method such as condoms until the next period even after using Unwanted-72 Tablet.
