Uprise-D3 60K Soft Gelatin Capsule contains a high-strength dose of vitamin D3. The dose and duration of treatment vary depending on your vitamin D levels, age, and underlying medical condition. Your doctor will decide the appropriate treatment schedule after evaluating your individual needs. Do not take this medicine more often or for longer than prescribed, as excessive vitamin D intake may cause harmful effects. Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor has advised.
My doctor has prescribed Uprise D3 60K to take once daily for 3 days, followed by once weekly for 12 weeks. However, I accidentally continued taking it once daily for 8 consecutive days. Is there any risk from this overdose, and what should I do now?
Chandrakanta Jena
Pharm D
Taking Uprise D3 60K once daily for 8 days, rather than the planned 3 days, is unlikely to cause serious harm in most healthy adults. This medicine contains Cholecalciferol (a form of vitamin D), and short-term extra doses may slightly raise vitamin D levels, but serious toxicity is rare at this level of use. However, very high vitamin D levels over time may increase blood calcium levels, leading to symptoms such as nausea, loss of appetite, constipation, increased thirst, frequent urination, or weakness. Since you have taken 5 extra doses, stop taking it daily and return to your original once-weekly schedule as advised by your doctor. Do not take any more extra doses. If you notice any unusual symptoms or if you have kidney disease or other medical conditions, please inform your doctor. In most cases, no treatment is needed, but your doctor may suggest a blood test if required.
My vitamin D level is 19, and I want to increase it to around 50-60. Is it okay for me to take Uprise D3 60K softgel capsules weekly to help achieve this level?
Chandrakanta Jena
Pharm D
A vitamin D level of 19 indicates deficiency, and Uprise D3 60K (cholecalciferol) once weekly is a commonly used and effective treatment for correcting this deficiency. This dose is usually given for a short course and should ideally be taken under medical supervision. It is best absorbed when taken after a main meal that contains some fat. Your doctor may advise checking vitamin D and calcium levels again after about 8 to 12 weeks of treatment and may adjust the dose further if needed. You should avoid taking any additional vitamin D supplements at the same time unless your doctor advises it. Along with tablets, safe sunlight exposure and dietary sources can also help maintain healthy vitamin D levels. With proper use and follow-up, your vitamin D levels can safely return to the desired range.
Is Uprise-D3 60K Softgel Capsule safe for a man over 60 years old?
Chandrakanta Jena
Pharm D
Uprise-D3 60K Softgel Capsule (Cholecalciferol) is generally safe for men over 60 when taken under a doctor’s supervision. It is often recommended to correct vitamin D deficiency and support bone and immune health in this age group. However, excessive or long-term use without monitoring may raise blood calcium levels and affect kidney function. Your doctor may advise blood tests to check your vitamin D and calcium levels, as well as kidney function, before and during treatment to ensure it is safe and effective. Always follow your doctor’s guidance to avoid potential side effects or interactions.
I accidentally took Uprise-D3 60K Softgel capsules three times a week for about two months, on and off. Are my kidneys at risk?
Chandrakanta Jena
Pharm D
Taking Uprise-D3 60K Softgel capsules (cholecalciferol) three times a week for a prolonged period may lead to excess vitamin D levels, which can raise blood calcium levels (hypercalcaemia) and, in rare cases, increase the risk of kidney stones and kidney damage. However, this does not always lead to harm, and the actual risk depends on your total intake, duration, and individual health. It is advisable to stop the extra doses and get blood tests for calcium, vitamin D, and kidney function to be safe. Please consult your doctor for proper evaluation and advice, especially if you notice symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, or changes in urine.
