About Virospray Mouth Spray

Virospray Mouth Spray is an antiseptic and disinfectant used to treat sore throat. It also treats and prevents infections of the mouth and throat lining, such as gingivitis (inflammation of the gums) and mouth ulcers. Virospray Mouth Spray is also used to cleanse the mouth for preparation of the oral mucosa before any injection, dental surgery or tooth extraction.

Virospray Mouth Spray contains Povidone iodine. It works by inhibiting the growth of infection-causing microbes. As a small molecule, iodine can easily penetrate microorganisms and oxidise essential proteins, nucleotides, and fatty acids, leading to cell death. It is effective against bacteria, fungi, viruses, and protozoa.

Use Virospray Mouth Spray as directed by a doctor. Virospray Mouth Spray may cause common side effects, such as mouth or throat irritation, dryness of the mouth and throat, and a burning sensation. These side effects gradually resolve over time and do not require medical attention. However, if the side effects persist longer, please seek medical help.

Use Virospray Mouth Spray as directed by your doctor. In case of accidental swallowing of large quantities of Virospray Mouth Spray, it may result in acute iodine toxicity. It may cause abdominal symptoms, decreased urine production, pulmonary oedema, circulatory failure, or metabolic abnormalities. Seek medical help immediately if you experience any of these symptoms.

Drug Warnings

Do not use Virospray Mouth Spray if you are allergic to povidone-iodine. Let your doctor know if you have an overactive thyroid gland (hyperthyroidism) or any other thyroid diseases (nodular colloid goitre, endemic goitre or Hashimoto’s thyroiditis), liver, or kidney problems. Please consult your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to conceive or are a lactating mother before using Virospray Mouth Spray. Virospray Mouth Spray should be used in children under twelve years of age only when the doctor has advised it.
