AMBRISENTAN+TADALAFIL belongs to the class of medicines called antihypertensives, primarily used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (high blood pressure affecting arteries in the lungs). Pulmonary hypertension is defined as high blood pressure in the blood veins that supply the blood to the lungs (pulmonary arteries). It can affect the arteries of the lungs and the right side of the heart. The common symptoms of pulmonary hypertension are shortness of breath, dizziness, palpitations, and chest pressure.
AMBRISENTAN+TADALAFIL is a combination of two medications: ambrisentan and tadalafil. Tadalafil belongs to a class of drugs known as phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE5) inhibitors. It aids in treating pulmonary hypertension by relaxing blood vessels in the chest. This increases blood supply to the lungs while decreasing the workload on the heart. Ambrisentan belongs to a class of drugs known as 'endothelin receptor antagonists.' Ambrisentan prevents endothelin, a naturally occurring substance that constricts blood vessels and raises blood pressure. It relaxes the constricted pulmonary arteries and increases blood supply to the lungs, lowering blood pressure.
AMBRISENTAN+TADALAFIL can be taken with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water; do not crush, chew or break it. You are advised to take AMBRISENTAN+TADALAFIL for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending on your medical condition. In some cases, AMBRISENTAN+TADALAFIL can cause side effects like headache, flushing, blocked nose, palpitations, diarrhoea, nausea, indigestion, muscle aches and pain. These side effects are unfamiliar to everyone and vary from person to person. Please get in touch with your doctor if you experience any of the side effects persistently.
If you are allergic to any of the ingredients of AMBRISENTAN+TADALAFIL, please do not take it. Stopping AMBRISENTAN+TADALAFIL without consulting your doctor may aggravate your condition and increase your chances of future cardiac problems. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. AMBRISENTAN+TADALAFIL causes drowsiness and dizziness, so drive only if you are alert. AMBRISENTAN+TADALAFIL should not be given to children as safety and effectiveness have not been established. Alcohol should not be consumed with AMBRISENTAN+TADALAFIL since it may raise the risk of low blood pressure. Keep your doctor up to date on your medical condition and medications to rule out any potential side effects.
Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH)
AMBRISENTAN+TADALAFIL is an antihypertensive drug used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). AMBRISENTAN+TADALAFIL contains tadalafil (PDE-5 inhibitor) and ambrisentan (endothelin receptor antagonist). Tadalafil aids in treating pulmonary hypertension by relaxing blood vessels in the chest. This increases blood supply to the lungs while decreasing the workload on the heart. Ambrisentan prevents endothelin, a naturally occurring substance that constricts blood vessels and raises blood pressure. It relaxes the constricted pulmonary arteries and increases blood supply to the lungs, lowering blood pressure.
If you are allergic to any of the ingredients of AMBRISENTAN+TADALAFIL, please do not take it. Stopping AMBRISENTAN+TADALAFIL without consulting your doctor may aggravate your condition and increase your chances of future cardiac problems. AMBRISENTAN+TADALAFIL is not recommended during pregnancy because it is harmful to the foetus. Before using AMBRISENTAN+TADALAFIL, you should definitely get a negative pregnancy test. Also, if you are undergoing treatment with AMBRISENTAN+TADALAFIL, please use reliable forms of birth control to avoid pregnancy. Brief your medical history to the doctor if you have heart failure, liver or kidney diseases, lung conditions (pulmonary fibrosis), anaemia, oedema (fluid retention) and hypotension (low blood pressure). AMBRISENTAN+TADALAFIL causes drowsiness and dizziness, so drive if you are alert. Avoid consuming alcohol with AMBRISENTAN+TADALAFIL as it may raise the chance of developing low blood pressure. AMBRISENTAN+TADALAFIL is not suggested for patients under the age of 18.
Drug-Drug Interactions: AMBRISENTAN+TADALAFIL may interact with other medicines used to treat PAH (e.g. iloprost, epoprostenol), medicines categorised as nitrates (e.g. organic nitrate), alpha-blockers (e.g. tamsulosin), antihypertensive medications (e.g. amlodipine, enalapril and metoprolol), antifungals (e.g. itraconazole), antibiotics (e.g. rifampicin) and immunosuppressants (e.g. cyclosporine).
Drug-Food Interactions: Limit or avoid the intake of alcohol.
Drug-Disease Interactions: AMBRISENTAN+TADALAFIL may interact with diseases conditions, including heart disorders, liver or kidney illnesses, lung conditions, anaemia, oedema (fluid retention), seizures, eye disorders, low blood pressure and severe dehydration.
It is advised to limit or quit the consumption of alcohol as it may increase the risk of low blood pressure.
AMBRISENTAN+TADALAFIL is not recommended in pregnancy. Please consult your doctor if you have any concerns.
Consult your doctor as there is no substantial research yet on the use of AMBRISENTAN+TADALAFIL in breastfeeding/nursing mothers. AMBRISENTAN+TADALAFIL should be used in breastfeeding mothers only if the benefits outweigh the risks.
AMBRISENTAN+TADALAFIL causes drowsiness and dizziness, so drive only if you are alert.
AMBRISENTAN+TADALAFIL may increase liver enzymes. Before taking AMBRISENTAN+TADALAFIL, inform your doctor if you have/had liver illness.
In cases of renal impairment, take AMBRISENTAN+TADALAFIL with caution. If you have kidney problems, you should consult a doctor before beginning AMBRISENTAN+TADALAFIL. Your doctor will prescribe if the benefits outweigh the risks.
Safety and effectiveness of AMBRISENTAN+TADALAFIL have not been established in patients below 18 years of age.
Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension: It is referred to as high blood pressure in the blood vessels that carry blood from the heart to the lungs (the pulmonary arteries). It can affect the arteries of the lungs and the right side of the heart. The walls of the pulmonary arteries thicken and stiffen, making it difficult for blood to flow through. Because of the reduced blood flow, the right side of the heart has a harder time pumping blood through the arteries. The common symptoms of pulmonary hypertension are shortness of breath, dizziness, palpitations, and chest pressure. It can affect people of all ages, but it's more common in people who already have a heart or lung problem.
