CHLORAMPHENICOL+CLOTRIMAZOLE+BECLOMETASONE+LIDOCAINE is a combination medicine used to treat pain and inflammation associated with ear infections caused by bacteria and fungi. An ear infection occurs when fungi or bacteria affect the middle or outer ear, leading to pain and inflammation. Infection of the middle ear (air-filled space behind the eardrum) is known as otitis media whereas the inflammation of the external/outer ear canal that runs from the eardrum to the outside of the head is known as otitis externa.
CHLORAMPHENICOL+CLOTRIMAZOLE+BECLOMETASONE+LIDOCAINE contains Chloramphenicol (antibiotic), Clotrimazole (antifungal), Beclomethasone (steroid), and Lidocaine (local anaesthetic). Chloramphenicol kills the bacteria by preventing the synthesis of essential proteins required for the survival of bacteria. Clotrimazole kills the fungi by breaking down the fungal cell wall/protective covering. Beclomethasone reduces inflammation by blocking the chemical messengers that cause inflammation. Lidocaine decreases pain sensation by blocking the pain signals from the nerves to the brain. Together, CHLORAMPHENICOL+CLOTRIMAZOLE+BECLOMETASONE+LIDOCAINE treats infections of the ear.
CHLORAMPHENICOL+CLOTRIMAZOLE+BECLOMETASONE+LIDOCAINE is for otic use only. You are advised to use CHLORAMPHENICOL+CLOTRIMAZOLE+BECLOMETASONE+LIDOCAINE for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side-effects such as burning sensation, irritation, itching, swelling, redness and stinging sensation. Most of these side-effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side-effects persistently.
Do not use CHLORAMPHENICOL+CLOTRIMAZOLE+BECLOMETASONE+LIDOCAINE if you have/had a skin reaction or irritation to any steroid medicine. Consult your doctor before using CHLORAMPHENICOL+CLOTRIMAZOLE+BECLOMETASONE+LIDOCAINE if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. CHLORAMPHENICOL+CLOTRIMAZOLE+BECLOMETASONE+LIDOCAINE is not recommended for children as efficacy and safety have not been established. Please do not touch the tip of the dropper, as it may contaminate the contents. Do not put cotton into the ear after administration of ear drops. CHLORAMPHENICOL+CLOTRIMAZOLE+BECLOMETASONE+LIDOCAINE is an otic solution which is to be used only to treat infected ears; do not instil in the eyes.
Ear infections
CHLORAMPHENICOL+CLOTRIMAZOLE+BECLOMETASONE+LIDOCAINE is a combination of four drugs, namely: Chloramphenicol, Clotrimazole, Beclomethasone and Lidocaine. CHLORAMPHENICOL+CLOTRIMAZOLE+BECLOMETASONE+LIDOCAINE is used to treat pain and inflammation associated with ear infections caused by bacteria and fungi. Chloramphenicol is a broad-spectrum antibiotic with bacteriostatic activity. It prevents the synthesis of essential proteins required for the survival of bacteria, thereby kills the bacteria. Clotrimazole is a broad-spectrum antifungal with fungicidal and fungistatic properties. It works by breaking down the fungal cell wall, thereby kills the fungi. Beclomethasone is a topical anti-inflammatory corticosteroid which blocks the chemical messengers that cause inflammation, thereby reduces inflammation. Lidocaine is a local anaesthetic that blocks the pain signals from the nerves to the brain, thereby decreasing the pain sensation. Together, CHLORAMPHENICOL+CLOTRIMAZOLE+BECLOMETASONE+LIDOCAINE eliminates bacterial, fungal growth and provides relief from pain, inflammation of the ear.
Do not use CHLORAMPHENICOL+CLOTRIMAZOLE+BECLOMETASONE+LIDOCAINE if you are allergic to any of its contents. Inform your doctor if you have any illness, disorders or medical conditions. Ear infections: An ear infection occurs when fungi or bacteria affect the middle or outer ear, leading to pain and inflammation. An ear infection occurs when the Eustachian tubes (small tubes that run from each ear to the back of the throat) become blocked or swollen. Infection of the middle ear (air-filled space behind the eardrum) is known as otitis media whereas the inflammation of the external/outer ear canal that runs from the eardrum to the outside of the head is known as otitis externa. Ear infections can be painful due to inflammation and fluid build-up. Symptoms include pain or discomfort inside the ear, pus or fluid-like drainage from the ear, feeling of pressure inside the ear, and loss of hearing.
