About CHOLINE FENOFIBRATE+PITAVASTATIN

CHOLINE FENOFIBRATE+PITAVASTATIN is used to lower bad cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Also, it increases good cholesterol levels. High cholesterol, known as Hypercholesterolemia, occurs when there is an unhealthy cholesterol balance in the blood. When the cholesterol level is high in the blood, your arteries get narrowed and clogged, which contributes to heart diseases like stroke and heart attack.

CHOLINE FENOFIBRATE+PITAVASTATIN contains two drugs, choline fenofibrate and Pitavastatin. Choline fenofibrate works by stimulating the action of lipoprotein lipase (enzyme), which breaks down LDL (low-density lipoprotein) cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood. Pitavastatin works by decreasing the production of LDL (bad cholesterol) by the liver. Together, they increase the levels of good cholesterol.

Take CHOLINE FENOFIBRATE+PITAVASTATIN as prescribed by your doctor. You are advised to take CHOLINE FENOFIBRATE+PITAVASTATIN for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you based on your medical condition. CHOLINE FENOFIBRATE+PITAVASTATIN may cause side effects such as constipation, diarrhoea, muscle pain, back pain, stomach pain, or flatulence (gas). Most of these side effects of CHOLINE FENOFIBRATE+PITAVASTATIN do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist, please consult your doctor.

If you are allergic to choline fenofibrate, pitavastatin or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please inform your doctor before taking CHOLINE FENOFIBRATE+PITAVASTATIN. Avoid alcohol consumption with CHOLINE FENOFIBRATE+PITAVASTATIN as it may increase the risk of muscle problems and liver injury.

Medicinal Benefits

CHOLINE FENOFIBRATE+PITAVASTATIN belongs to the class of medicines called antilipemic agents (cholesterol-lowering drugs). It contains Choline fenofibrate and Pitavastatin, which are used to lower bad cholesterol and triglyceride levels in patients whose cholesterol levels are not controlled by diet and exercise alone. Choline fenofibrate works by stimulating the action of lipoprotein lipase (enzyme), which breaks down LDL (low-density lipoprotein) cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood. Pitavastatin works by inhibiting the HMG-CoA reductase enzyme in the body, which is essential to making cholesterol. Thereby, it decreases the production of LDL (bad cholesterol) by the liver. Also, it decreases the risk of stroke or heart attack by reducing the excess cholesterol deposition in the major blood vessels of the brain and heart. Together, they increase the levels of good cholesterol.

    Patients Concern

    Disease/Condition Glossary

High cholesterol: It is also known as Hypercholesterolemia occurs when there is an excess of the unhealthy balance of cholesterol in the blood. When there is a high level of cholesterol in the blood, your arteries get narrowed and clogged, which contributes to heart diseases like stroke and heart attack. Eating high-fat or high-cholesterol-containing food/drinks and genetic factors are the primary causes of high cholesterol. Two types of cholesterol are found in our body, namely, good cholesterol (high-density lipoprotein) and bad cholesterol (low-density lipoprotein). Good cholesterol is good for our heart and helps reduce the bad cholesterol in our body. Excess bad cholesterol (LDL) increases the risk of heart diseases like heart attack and stroke.
