CLOSTRIDIUM BOTULINUM TYPE A TOXIN HAEMAGGLUTININ COMPLEX belongs to a group of medicines called muscle relaxants used to treat upper limb spasticity, lower limb spasticity, spasmodic torticollis (neck muscle contraction), blepharospasm (abnormal contraction of the eyelid muscles), hemifacial spasm (contractions or spasms of the muscles on one side of the face), moderate to severe glabellar lines (worry lines), and moderate to severe lateral canthal line (crow's feet or laugh lines).
CLOSTRIDIUM BOTULINUM TYPE A TOXIN HAEMAGGLUTININ COMPLEX contains Clostridium botulinum type A toxin haemagglutinin complex, which acts on the junctions between the nerves and muscles, preventing the release of acetylcholine (a chemical messenger) from the nerve endings that would normally cause the muscle to contract. Thereby, it helps reduce abnormal muscle contractions.
In some cases, CLOSTRIDIUM BOTULINUM TYPE A TOXIN HAEMAGGLUTININ COMPLEX may cause injection site reactions, headache, tiredness, generalised weakness, and flu-like symptoms. Most of these side effects may not require medical attention and resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to the doctor if the side effects persist or worsen.
Let the doctor know if you are allergic to any of the components in CLOSTRIDIUM BOTULINUM TYPE A TOXIN HAEMAGGLUTININ COMPLEX. CLOSTRIDIUM BOTULINUM TYPE A TOXIN HAEMAGGLUTININ COMPLEX should not be used during pregnancy or lactation. CLOSTRIDIUM BOTULINUM TYPE A TOXIN HAEMAGGLUTININ COMPLEX may cause muscle weakness or visual disturbances; therefore, drive only if you are alert. Inform the doctor about your health condition and medications to rule out any side effects/interactions.

CLOSTRIDIUM BOTULINUM TYPE A TOXIN HAEMAGGLUTININ COMPLEX can be used for the treatment of upper and lower limb spasticity in children above two years. It should not be used for other conditions in children.
Upper/lower limb spasticity: It is a condition that affects the way you move your arms. It makes the muscles stiff and flexed.
Spasmodic torticollis: It is a painful condition involving involuntary contraction of neck muscles, which causes the head to twist or turn to one side.
Blepharospasm: It is a condition affecting the eyelid muscles. It causes uncontrollable blinking and closure of the eyelids.
Hemifacial spasm: It is a condition that causes the muscles on one side of the face to contract without control from the person affected.
Glabellar lines: They are the vertical frown lines which may appear between the eyebrows
Lateral canthal lines: Lateral canthal lines, also known as crow's feet, are the lines that appear near the outside corner of your eyes.
