DEXLANSOPRAZOLE+DOMPERIDONE is used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and relieve heartburn. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) occurs when stomach acid frequently flows back into the food pipe (oesophagus). This backflow (acid reflux) irritates the food pipe and causes heartburn.
DEXLANSOPRAZOLE+DOMPERIDONE is a combination of two drugs, namely, Dexlansoprazole and Domperidone. It works by inhibiting the action of proton pumps, which produce stomach acid. As a result, it reduces the amount of acid produced by the stomach while preventing excess acid from flowing back into the food pipe. It also inhibits dopamine receptors in the upper digestive tract. As a result, food moves more quickly through the stomach and into the intestine.
Take DEXLANSOPRAZOLE+DOMPERIDONE as prescribed by your doctor. You are advised to take DEXLANSOPRAZOLE+DOMPERIDONE for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you based on your medical condition. DEXLANSOPRAZOLE+DOMPERIDONE may cause common side effects such as diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, stomach pain, common cold or gas. Most of these side effects of DEXLANSOPRAZOLE+DOMPERIDONE do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.
Please tell your doctor if you are allergic to Domperidone, Dexlansoprazole or any other ingredients in DEXLANSOPRAZOLE+DOMPERIDONE. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please inform your doctor before taking DEXLANSOPRAZOLE+DOMPERIDONE. If you have a prolactinoma (tumour of the pituitary gland), liver, or heart problems, inform your doctor before taking DEXLANSOPRAZOLE+DOMPERIDONE. Drive only if you are alert after taking DEXLANSOPRAZOLE+DOMPERIDONE.
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
DEXLANSOPRAZOLE+DOMPERIDONE belongs to the class of drugs called gastrointestinal agents. It contains Dexlansoprazole and Domperidone. Dexlansoprazole reduces the amount of acid produced by the stomach and prevents excess acid from flowing back into the food pipe. Thus, it provides relief from heartburn symptoms related to acid reflux. Domperidone increases muscle movements and contractions in the stomach. Thereby, it prevents vomiting and reduces bloating, nausea and fullness. Also, it prevents reflux (regurgitation of the stomach contents back into the foodpipe).
If you are allergic to Domperidone, Dexlansoprazole or any other ingredients in DEXLANSOPRAZOLE+DOMPERIDONE, please tell your doctor. If you experience heart rhythm disorders like difficulty in breathing, loss of consciousness, or palpitations (strong or irregular heartbeat) while taking DEXLANSOPRAZOLE+DOMPERIDONE, contact your doctor immediately. Dexlansoprazole in DEXLANSOPRAZOLE+DOMPERIDONE may increase the risk of severe diarrhoea. Therefore, if you have stomach pain, watery stool, and fever that does not go away, contact your doctor right away.

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD): The stomach is usually protected from acid by a mucous layer. In some cases, due to excess acid production, the mucous layer gets irritated or eroded, which leads to complications like GERD, hyperacidity, peptic ulcers, and heartburn. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) occurs when stomach acid repeatedly flows back into the food pipe (oesophagus). This backflow (acid reflux) irritates the food pipe and causes heartburn. Symptoms include heartburn, difficulty swallowing and a sour or bitter taste in the mouth.
