ERGOTAMINE TARTRATE+CAFFEINE+PARACETAMOL+PROCHLORPERAZINE MALEATE is a combination medicine indicated to treat and prevent migraine. ERGOTAMINE TARTRATE+CAFFEINE+PARACETAMOL+PROCHLORPERAZINE MALEATE is used to relieve the symptoms at the first sign of a migraine attack and to prevent the worsening of the attack. Migraine is a neurological condition that is characterized by an intense pulsating, throbbing, pounding, debilitating headache which usually occurs on one side of the head; however, it can occur on both sides or shift.
ERGOTAMINE TARTRATE+CAFFEINE+PARACETAMOL+PROCHLORPERAZINE MALEATE is a combination of four drugs, namely: Ergotamine tartrate (ergot alkaloid), caffeine (methylxanthine), prochlorperazine maleate (anti-emetic) and paracetamol (analgesic). Ergotamine tartrate works by narrowing the blood vessels in the brain and affects the blood flow patterns associated with headaches. Caffeine enhances the vasoconstrictive effect (narrowing of blood vessels). Prochlorperazine maleate prevents nausea and vomiting associated with migraine by modifying the effects of neurotransmitters. Paracetamol blocks the release of prostaglandins that cause pain.
Take ERGOTAMINE TARTRATE+CAFFEINE+PARACETAMOL+PROCHLORPERAZINE MALEATE with or without food. Swallow ERGOTAMINE TARTRATE+CAFFEINE+PARACETAMOL+PROCHLORPERAZINE MALEATE as a whole with a glass of water; do not chew, or break the tablet. Take ERGOTAMINE TARTRATE+CAFFEINE+PARACETAMOL+PROCHLORPERAZINE MALEATE for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side effects, such as stomach upset, dizziness, dry mouth, constipation, and insomnia (trouble sleeping). Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.
ERGOTAMINE TARTRATE+CAFFEINE+PARACETAMOL+PROCHLORPERAZINE MALEATE contains paracetamol, do not take other medicines containing paracetamol along with ERGOTAMINE TARTRATE+CAFFEINE+PARACETAMOL+PROCHLORPERAZINE MALEATE. Do not take ERGOTAMINE TARTRATE+CAFFEINE+PARACETAMOL+PROCHLORPERAZINE MALEATE if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. ERGOTAMINE TARTRATE+CAFFEINE+PARACETAMOL+PROCHLORPERAZINE MALEATE causes drowsiness and dizziness, so drive with caution. ERGOTAMINE TARTRATE+CAFFEINE+PARACETAMOL+PROCHLORPERAZINE MALEATE should not be given to children as safety and efficacy have not been established. Avoid consuming alcohol along with ERGOTAMINE TARTRATE+CAFFEINE+PARACETAMOL+PROCHLORPERAZINE MALEATE as it could lead to increased drowsiness and dizziness. Keep your doctor informed about your health condition and ongoing medicines to rule out any side effects.
