INFLUENZA (LIVE ATTENUATED) belongs to the group of medications called ‘immunising agents’ used to prevent influenza or flu in children and adolescents aged 24 months to less than 18 years. Influenza is a viral infection caused by the influenza virus.

INFLUENZA (LIVE ATTENUATED) contains Influenza made from a live, weakened or attenuated influenza virus. It helps the body to develop immunity by stimulating the immune system to produce antibodies.

In some cases, INFLUENZA (LIVE ATTENUATED) may cause side effects such as a runny or stuffy nose, decreased appetite, and weakness. These side effects are usually mild and temporary. However, consult your doctor if these side effects persist or worsen.

    Do not give your child acetylsalicylic acid/aspirin (used to relieve pain) for four weeks after the vaccination with INFLUENZA (LIVE ATTENUATED) unless advised by the doctor due to the risk of Reye’s syndrome (a very rare, serious disease that can affect the brain and liver).

    Does INFLUENZA (LIVE ATTENUATED) cause flu?

    INFLUENZA (LIVE ATTENUATED) is indicated in the prophylaxis of influenza. None of the ingredients in the vaccine can cause the flu.
