About NAPAFENAC
NAPAFENAC belongs to the class NSAID's (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs). NAPAFENAC is used for the treatment of pain and inflammation associated with cataract surgery. Normally, the lens of your eye is clear but a cataract causes the lens to become cloudy, which eventually affects your vision. So, to treat cataracts a procedure is performed to remove the lens of your eye and replace it with an artificial lens is called cataract surgery. It causes Post-operative risks like pain, inflammation and infection in the eye.
NAPAFENAC contains 'Nepafenac' is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID).NAPAFENAC inhibits cyclo-oxygenase (COX) enzymes that further prevents the formation of chemical messengers called 'prostaglandins' (PGs). These prostaglandins are produced at the operated site and cause pain and swelling in the eye. By blocking COX enzymes' effect, lesser PGs are produced, which reduces mild to moderate pain and inflammation at the operated site/injured or damaged site in the eye.
NAPAFENAC is for external use only. You should take this medicine as prescribed by your doctor. The common side effects of NAPAFENAC include decreased vision, foreign body sensation in the eye, increased intraocular pressure, and watery eyes. These side effects are not familiar to everyone and vary individually. If you notice any side effects that are not manageable, stop the medicine and consult your doctor immediately.
Before using this medicine, you should tell your doctor about all the other medicines you are taking. You should also tell your doctor if you have any other medical conditions or disorders. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult with their doctors before using the medicine. Shake well before using the NAPAFENAC.Always wash your hands before using the NAPAFENAC.Do not touch the tip of the bottle to avoid contamination. Use the NAPAFENAC within four weeks of opening the bottle. Drug-Disease Interactions: NAPAFENAC should not be used in patients with diabetes, an increased risk of bleeding, an ulcer of the cornea of the eye, decreased sensitivity of the cornea of the eye, bleeding in the eye, rheumatoid arthritis, impaired wound healing, a hole developing in the corner of the eye, corneal epithelial degeneration, decrease in normal tears.
