NIMOTUZUMAB belongs to the group of anti-cancer medicines used to treat head and neck cancer with concurrent chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy. It may also be indicated in the treatment of glioma (growth of tumours in the brain or spinal cord) and nasopharyngeal cancer.
NIMOTUZUMAB contains Nimotuzumab, a recombinant humanised monoclonal antibody that works by binding to receptors on cancer cells and prevents them from destroying the body’s immune system. Thereby, it helps treat cancer.
In some cases, NIMOTUZUMAB may cause side effects like fever, chills, headache, itching, and mucositis. Most of these side effects may not require medical attention and resolve gradually over time. Do not be reluctant to talk with your doctor if any of the side effects persist or worsen.
Do not use NIMOTUZUMAB if you are allergic to any of its components. Consult the doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Keep the doctor informed about your health condition and medications to rule out any side effects/interactions.
