PERINDOPRIL ERBUMINE is an anti-hypertensive medication primarily used to treat high blood pressure and heart failure. It is also used to reduce the risk of cardiac events like a heart attack in patients with coronary artery disease and who have had a heart attack and/or surgery to improve the blood supply to the heart. Hypertension (High blood pressure) is a condition in which the force exerted by the blood against the artery walls becomes so high that it causes health problems, such as heart disease.
PERINDOPRIL ERBUMINE contains Perindopril erbumine, an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor; it reduces increased blood pressure by blocking a naturally occurring substance known as angiotensin II (that tightens your blood vessels). PERINDOPRIL ERBUMINE relaxes and widens the blood vessels, thereby lowering the blood pressure and making it easier for the heart to pump blood throughout the body.
Take PERINDOPRIL ERBUMINE as prescribed. Your doctor will advise you on the dosage and duration based on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience dizziness, headache, weakness, vomiting, and nausea. Most of these side effects of PERINDOPRIL ERBUMINE do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor.
Try not to stop taking this medicine on your own, even if your blood pressure becomes normal; doing so may worsen your condition. Avoid taking PERINDOPRIL ERBUMINE if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. PERINDOPRIL ERBUMINE is not recommended for children below 18years. PERINDOPRIL ERBUMINE may cause dizziness and weakness, so drive or operate machinery only if you are alert. Keep your doctor informed about your health condition and medications to rule out any interactions.
Hypertension, Heart failure, Prevention of heart attack
PERINDOPRIL ERBUMINE is used to treat high blood pressure and heart failure. Additionally, it is also used to reduce the risk of cardiac events like a heart attack in patients with coronary artery disease and who have had a heart attack and/or surgery to improve the blood supply to the heart. PERINDOPRIL ERBUMINE contains Perindopril erbumine, an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor; it reduces increased blood pressure by blocking a naturally occurring substance known as angiotensin II (that tightens your blood vessels). PERINDOPRIL ERBUMINE allows constricted blood vessels to relax and therefore helps lower high blood pressure.
Do not take PERINDOPRIL ERBUMINE if you are allergic to any of the contents, ACE inhibitors, if you are taking sacubitril, valsartan, or aliskiren. Inform your doctor if you have/had kidney problems, dialysis, heart problems, liver dysfunction, diabetes, dehydration, angioedema, collagen vascular disease, or primary aldosteronism. Consult your doctor if you develop signs of infection or jaundice.
Drug-Drug Interaction: PERINDOPRIL ERBUMINE may interact with medication used for heart failure, high blood pressure (nitroglycerin, aliskiren, losartan, valsartan, olmesartan, candesartan, captopril, enalapril), epilepsy and anxiety medications (pregabalin), diuretics (hydrochlorothiazide, furosemide, bumetanide, chlorthalidone, and indapamide), NSAIDs (naproxen, ibuprofen, indomethacin, celecoxib), narcotic analgesics (codeine) and medication used for mania and depression (lithium).
Drug-Food Interaction: Avoid intake of high potassium and sodium intake. Including these in your diet might increase the level of potassium in your blood (hyperkalemia). Besides this, do not use salt substitutes or potassium supplements while taking PERINDOPRIL ERBUMINE.
Drug-Disease Interaction: Inform your doctor if you have/had angioedema (swelling), bone marrow suppression, congestive heart failure, hemodialysis (A medical procedure to remove fluid and waste products from the blood and to correct electrolyte imbalances), hyperkalemia (high potassium level), low blood pressure (hypotension), liver disease, and kidney dysfunction.
Alcohol may enhance the hypotensive (low blood pressure) effect of PERINDOPRIL ERBUMINE. It may also cause increased dizziness. For better advice, you should consult your doctor if you can take PERINDOPRIL ERBUMINE with alcohol.
Avoid taking PERINDOPRIL ERBUMINE if you are pregnant, especially if you are more than 3months pregnant as it may cause harm to the developing fetus. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or planning for pregnancy.
Use of PERINDOPRIL ERBUMINE is not recommended during the breastfeeding.
PERINDOPRIL ERBUMINE may cause blurry vision, dizziness or weakness. Drive or operate machinery only if you are alert.
Rare elevation in liver enzymes (like bilirubin) has been observed while taking PERINDOPRIL ERBUMINE, so it must be taken with caution. If you have a history of liver diseases/conditions, the dose may have to be adjusted by your doctor.
PERINDOPRIL ERBUMINE to be taken with caution, especially in case of severe kidney disease. The dose may have to be adjusted by your doctor. PERINDOPRIL ERBUMINE should be given with precaution in hemodialysis condition.
The safety and effectiveness of PERINDOPRIL ERBUMINE in children below 18years have not been established.
Hypertension: It is a chronic condition in which the blood exerts increased pressure on the artery walls. This condition can lead to hardened arteries (blood vessels), decreasing the blood and oxygen flow to the heart. High blood pressure (hypertension) can cause chest pain (angina) and heart attack (when blood supply to the heart is blocked), brain damage (stroke), and kidney failure. High blood pressure can be diagnosed with the help of a blood pressure monitor or sphygmomanometer. Ideal blood pressure should be between 90/60 mm of Hg and 120/80 mm of Hg.
