QUINAPRIL+HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE is indicated in treating high blood pressure (hypertension). It lowers blood pressure and reduces the risk of fatal and nonfatal cardiovascular events, primarily strokes and myocardial infarctions. High blood pressure is when the blood exerts increased pressure on the walls of blood vessels.
QUINAPRIL+HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE contains Quinapril and Hydrochlorothiazide. Quinapril widens the blood vessels in the body and helps reduce their pressure. Hydrochlorothiazide helps the body get rid of extra fluid. Together, QUINAPRIL+HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE helps treat high blood pressure.
In some cases, QUINAPRIL+HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE may cause side effects such as diarrhoea, dizziness, headache, tiredness, and indigestion. Most of these side effects may not require medical attention and resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to the doctor if the side effects persist or worsen.
Do not take QUINAPRIL+HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE if you are allergic to any of its components. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. QUINAPRIL+HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE may cause dizziness, so drive only if you are alert. Keep the doctor informed about your health condition and medications to avoid unpleasant side effects/interactions.
QUINAPRIL+HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It is a combination of two anti-hypertensive medicines, Quinapril and Hydrochlorothiazide. Quinapril is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor) which reduces the pressure in the vessels by widening the blood vessels in the body. Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic that helps the body to get rid of extra fluid. Together, QUINAPRIL+HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE helps treat high blood pressure.
Do not take QUINAPRIL+HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE if you are allergic to any of its components, if you have a history of angioedema, kidney disease or problems passing urine, obstruction in the heart that slows blood in the heart, hereditary (inherited)/idiopathic (unknown cause) angioneurotic oedema (swelling of the face, tongue or throat which causes difficulty breathing), diabetes or impaired kidney function and you are treated with a blood pressure lowering medicine containing aliskiren, or if you are taking sacubitril/valsartan, a medicine for heart failure. Inform the doctor if you have/had skin cancer, aortic stenosis (narrowing of the main blood vessel from the heart), kidney, liver or heart problems, low blood pressure, dry cough, collagen vascular disease (deposits of collagen in your blood vessels), asthma, angioedema, diabetes, gout, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE, an allergic condition which causes skin rashes, joint pain and fever), salt/electrolyte imbalance, eye problems, pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you are due to undergo any surgery, or desensitisation treatment. Seek medical attention if you experience symptoms of visual disturbances/increased pressure in the eye (intense pain, headaches, redness of the eye, tender eye area, misty vision and loss of vision), neutropenia or agranulocytosis (fever, mouth ulcers, sore throat, unexplained bruising or bleeding, tiredness, or a blood problem such as low/lack of white blood cells), breathing or lung problems (severe shortness of breath or difficulty breathing).
Drug-Drug Interactions: Inform the doctor if you are taking medicines used to treat high blood pressure (aliskiren), medicines used to treat heart failure (sacubitril/valsartan), cholesterol-lowering medicines (cholestyramine, colestipol), neurotransmitters (norepinephrine epinephrine), antibiotics (sulfamethoxazole, trimethoprim), anaesthetics, anti-manic agents (lithium), painkillers (aspirin, ibuprofen), corticosteroids, antacids, antidiarrheals (racecadotril) or anti-diabetics (vildagliptin).
Drug-Food Interactions: No interactions found/established.
Drug-Disease Interactions: Inform the doctor if you have diabetes, impaired kidney function, heart problems, or angioneurotic oedema (swelling of the face, tongue or throat which causes difficulty breathing).
It is not known if alcohol affects QUINAPRIL+HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE. Please consult the doctor.
Consult the doctor if you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant or planning for pregnancy. QUINAPRIL+HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE is not recommended during pregnancy and must not be taken when more than three months pregnant, as it may cause serious harm to your baby if used after the third month of pregnancy.
QUINAPRIL+HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE is not recommended for mothers who are breastfeeding.
QUINAPRIL+HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE may cause dizziness in some cases. Drive or operate heavy machinery only if you are alert.
Please consult the doctor if you have liver problems or any concerns regarding this.
QUINAPRIL+HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE may not be recommended if you have impaired kidney function. Please consult the doctor if you have kidney problems or any concerns regarding this.
QUINAPRIL+HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE is recommended for children below 18 years.
High blood pressure (hypertension): It is a condition in which the blood exerts increased pressure on the walls of blood vessels, leading to hypertension. This condition can lead to hardened arteries (blood vessels), decreasing the blood and oxygen flow to the heart. Raised blood pressure can cause chest pain (angina) and heart attack (when the blood supply to the heart is blocked). Additionally, high blood pressure also causes brain damage (stroke) and kidney failure. Symptoms of high blood pressure include headache, dizziness, nose bleed, changes in vision, chest pain, weakness and dyspnoea (shortness of breath). However, most of the time, there are no signs or symptoms of hypertension.
