SUCRALFATE+DOMPERIDONE belongs to a class of medication called gastrointestinal agents used to treat duodenal ulcers, nausea, and vomiting. Duodenal ulcer is a peptic ulcer that develops in the duodenum (first part of the small intestine) due to erosion of the stomach's protective lining. Nausea is a feeling of uneasiness in the stomach that often comes before vomiting. On the other hand, vomiting is the forcible voluntary or involuntary emptying of stomach contents through the mouth.
SUCRALFATE+DOMPERIDONE is a combination of two drugs: Sucralfate (gastrointestinal protectant) and Domperidone (antinausea agent). Sucralfate belongs to the protectants class which forms a protective layer over the ulcer and protects the stomach from an ulcer due to excess stomach acid, thereby healing it. Domperidone belongs to the dopamine antagonist class that works by blocking dopamine receptors that stimulate the vomiting center (chemoreceptor trigger zone – CTZ) located in the brain. Together they prevent ulcers, nausea, and vomiting.
Take SUCRALFATE+DOMPERIDONE as prescribed by your doctor. You are advised to take SUCRALFATE+DOMPERIDONE for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you based on your medical condition. You may experience dry mouth, diarrhea, constipation, drowsiness, dizziness, or headache in some cases. Duodenal ulcer, Nausea, Vomiting
SUCRALFATE+DOMPERIDONE is a combination of two drugs: Sucralfate and Domperidone used to treat duodenal ulcers, nausea, and vomiting. Sucralfate is a protectant that forms a protective layer over the ulcer and protects the ulcer from stomach acid. Thereby, it allows healing. Domperidone is a dopamine antagonist that works by blocking dopamine receptors that stimulate the vomiting center (chemoreceptor trigger zone – CTZ) located in the brain. Thus, it prevents nausea and vomiting. Also, domperidone acts as a prokinetic agent that increases muscle movements and contractions in the stomach. Thereby prevents vomiting and reduces bloating, nausea and fullness.
If you are allergic to SUCRALFATE+DOMPERIDONE or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. SUCRALFATE+DOMPERIDONE is not recommended for children below 18 years and those weighing less than 35 kg as the safety and effectiveness were not established. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please inform your doctor before taking SUCRALFATE+DOMPERIDONE. If you have a prolactinoma (tumor of the pituitary gland), kidney, liver, or heart problems, diabetes, high potassium levels in the blood, or black tarry stools, inform your doctor before taking SUCRALFATE+DOMPERIDONE. Drive only if you are alert as SUCRALFATE+DOMPERIDONE may cause drowsiness or dizziness. Avoid alcohol consumption as it may increase adverse effects or irritate the stomach lining. If you experience heart rhythm disorders like difficulty in breathing, loss of consciousness, or palpitations (strong or irregular heartbeat) while taking SUCRALFATE+DOMPERIDONE, contact your doctor immediately. You are not recommended to take antacids such as cimetidine and sodium bicarbonate with SUCRALFATE+DOMPERIDONE simultaneously as it may affect the absorption of SUCRALFATE+DOMPERIDONE. Avoid taking SUCRALFATE+DOMPERIDONE if you have black, tarry stools or notice blood in stools as these might be signs of bleeding in the stomach or intestines.

Gastric ulcer: Peptic ulcers are sores that develop on the stomach and intestine lining due to erosion of the stomach's protective lining. Symptoms include nausea, changes in appetite, bloody or dark stools, unexplained weight loss, vomiting, and indigestion. Duodenal ulcer is a type of peptic ulcer that develops in the duodenum (the first part of the small intestine).
Nausea and vomiting: Nausea is a feeling of uneasiness in the stomach that often comes before vomiting. On the other hand, vomiting is the forcible voluntary or involuntary emptying of stomach contents through the mouth. In short nausea and vomiting are not diseases but are symptoms of many conditions like infections, motion sickness, an early stage of pregnancy, and gastroparesis (slow stomach emptying). There is a receptor located in our brain known as the chemoreceptor zone (CTZ) that controls vomiting.
