SUCRALFATE+MUPIROCIN belongs to the class of ' Protectants and Antimicrobial agent' primarily used to treat burns, wound infections and bacterial skin infections such as impetigo. A burn damages the skin or deeper tissues caused by hot liquids, fire, electricity and chemicals. The degree of severity of burns is based on the size and depth of the burn. A skin infection can occur when the skin is broken, cut, or wounded. Impetigo is a highly communicable bacterial skin infection that causes red sores on the face.
SUCRALFATE+MUPIROCIN is a combination of two medicines, namely; Sucralfate and Mupirocin. Sucralfate is a protectant with anti-inflammatory properties which forms a coating over the affected skin surface. This creates a cytoprotective effect and forms a viscous, adhesive barrier on the surface of the infected skin. It stimulates the synthesis and release of prostaglandins and the epidermal growth factor which stimulates healing. On the other hand, Mupirocin works by inhibiting the production of essential proteins that are necessary for bacteria to grow, multiply and increase in numbers, thereby preventing the growth of bacteria. Thereby, SUCRALFATE+MUPIROCIN kills bacteria and clears the infection, and reduces inflammation symptoms (burning sensation, irritation swelling, and pain).
SUCRALFATE+MUPIROCIN is for external use only. Apply SUCRALFATE+MUPIROCIN as prescribed by your doctor. You are advised to apply SUCRALFATE+MUPIROCIN for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical conditions. In some cases, you may experience a burning sensation at the application site. The side effects of SUCRALFATE+MUPIROCIN do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. Brief your medical history to the doctor, if you are allergic to SUCRALFATE+MUPIROCIN or its components. Please consult your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to conceive before using SUCRALFATE+MUPIROCIN. It is not known whether SUCRALFATE+MUPIROCIN passes into breast milk or not. It is advised to seek medical advice before using SUCRALFATE+MUPIROCIN if you are a breastfeeding mother. Do not apply SUCRALFATE+MUPIROCIN in large amounts or use it for a long time than prescribed as it does not give quick or better results but increases the risk of side effects. Burns, Skin infections (Impetigo), Wound infections
SUCRALFATE+MUPIROCIN is a combination of two medicines, namely; 'Sucralfate and Mupirocin' used to treat burns and wound infections. It is also used to treat impetigo (skin infection). Besides this, it is also used as an antiseptic in minor cuts and abrasions. Sucralfate is a protectant with anti-inflammatory properties which forms a coating over the affected skin surface. This creates a physical barrier that protects the skin from further injury and stimulates the synthesis and release of prostaglandins and the epidermal growth factor which stimulates healing. Mupirocin is a topical broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent and has bactericidal activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria and yeasts, which contaminate skin and mucosa. It kills the bacteria that cause skin infections by preventing the synthesis of essential proteins and RNA synthesis necessary for the survival of bacteria. Collectively, SUCRALFATE+MUPIROCIN prevents the skin infection from spreading, and reduces inflammation symptoms (burning sensation, irritation swelling, and pain). This promotes the healing of burns and wounds.

Burns: A burn damages the skin or deeper tissues that can be caused by hot liquids, fire, electricity and chemicals. The degree of severity of burns is based on the size and depth of the burn.
Skin infection: A skin infection can occur when the skin is broken, cut, or wounded. This skin infection allows pathogenic microorganisms to enter and invade the tissues surrounding the wound. Infection of the wound can trigger the body's immune response, causing inflammation and tissue damage and eventually slows down the healing process.
Impetigo: A highly contagious skin infection caused by bacteria that mainly affects infants and children but adults may also have the infection in rare cases. It usually appears as red sores on the face, especially around a child's nose and mouth, and on hands and feet. After burst, the sores developed honey-colored crusts.
