Whether to use medicine or surgery depends on how bad the inflammation is, if there is fever or vomiting, what blood tests show, and if any complications are starting. Doctors may try medicine first if the case is mild or caught early, but appendicitis can become dangerous if the appendix bursts and infection spreads in the abdomen. Because of this risk, surgery is often the more reliable and lasting treatment, especially if pain keeps coming back or scans show the inflammation is getting worse. Eating heavy or oily foods and taking painkillers on your own can sometimes hide symptoms and delay proper treatment. If the pain suddenly gets much worse, fever goes up, vomiting increases, the abdomen feels hard, or it becomes hard to walk, get medical help right away, as urgent surgery may be needed for complicated appendicitis.

Plain rice, curd, bananas, soups, and simple home-cooked meals are usually easier to digest than fried or spicy foods. Drinking enough water, taking a slow walk after meals, and avoiding late-night eating can also help your digestion. Some people use antacids or gas relief medicines for short-term relief, but you should only take these if your doctor recommends them. If your bloating gets very bad, you start vomiting, notice black stools, lose weight, or if the discomfort lasts for several days, consult a doctor to check for ulcers, infections, or other digestive issues.
