Eliquis 5 mg Tablet is used to prevent and treat deep vein thrombosis (blood clots in leg veins) and pulmonary embolism (blood clots in the lung). Additionally, it is used to prevent blood clots in patients with atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeat). It contains Apixaban, which works by inhibiting the action of blood clotting factor and prevents the conversion of fibrinogen (soluble protein) to fibrin (insoluble protein). Thus, it helps in preventing blood clot formation. Some people may experience side effects such as nausea, anaemia (lack of blood), and unusual bleeding, including swelling and bruising. Before taking this medicine, you should tell your doctor if you are allergic to any of its components or if you are pregnant/breastfeeding, and about all the medications you are taking and pre-existing medical conditions.
