Gardenal Syrup belongs to the class of anticonvulsants and is used to treat or prevent epilepsy (seizures). It is also used as a sedative to relieve anxiety and as a hypnotic for the short-term management of insomnia (sleeplessness). It contains Phenobarbitone, which works by controlling the abnormal electrical activity in the brain, thereby preventing and managing seizures. Additionally, it helps calm overly active brain chemicals, promoting relaxation and sedation. In some cases, it may cause side effects such as drowsiness, dizziness, restlessness, nausea, vomiting, and headache. Before taking this medicine, you should inform your doctor if you are allergic to any of its components, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, and provide details about any other medications you are taking or existing medical conditions.
