Glynase-MF Tablet is used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It contains Glipizide and Metformin, which promotes insulin secretion from the beta cells of the pancreas and reduces the glucose output from the liver. Also, it reduces serum glucose levels without increasing insulin secretion. It may cause common side effects such as hypoglycemia (low blood sugar levels), nausea, diarrhoea, indigestion, headache, dizziness, blurred vision, weakness, cold sweats, stomach pain, weight gain, and oedema (swelling). Before taking this medicine, you should tell your doctor if you are allergic to any of its components or if you are pregnant/breastfeeding, and about all the medications you are taking and pre-existing medical conditions.

A fasting sugar of 130 means your sugar is slightly high. Eat less sugar and refined foods, add more vegetables and protein, and avoid fried items. Daily walking, weight control, good sleep, and regular sugar monitoring can help improve control, along with your medicine.

Is heavy bleeding during my period after taking Glynase-MF a concern?

Heavy bleeding during periods is not a common side effect of Glynase-MF, but hormonal changes, stress, or other gynaecological issues can cause it. If the bleeding is very heavy, prolonged, or recurrent, it should be evaluated by a doctor. Do not stop the medicine on your own without medical advice.

How does the drug interact with Glynase-MF Tablet:
Co-administration of Glynase-MF Tablet with Gatifloxacin may affect blood glucose levels. Both low blood glucose and, less frequently, high blood glucose have been reported.

How to manage the interaction:
Although there is a possible interaction, Glynase-MF Tablet can be taken with Gatifloxacin if prescribed by the doctor. Consult the prescriber if you experience symptoms such as nervousness, confusion, headache, dizziness, drowsiness, tremors, nausea, hunger, weakness, perspiration, palpitation, rapid heartbeat, increased urination, increased thirst, and increased hunger. Maintaining blood glucose levels is advised. Do not discontinue the medications without consulting a doctor.
