Nitfur 100mg Tablet

Nitfur 100mg Tablet is used to prevent and treat bacterial infections like urinary tract infections (UTIs) and cystitis. Besides this, it is also used to treat kidney infections. A urine infection is often called a urinary tract infection (or simply, UTI). Most urine infections are caused by germs (bacteria).

Nitfur 100mg Tablet contains nitrofurantoin, which kills bacteria by entering their cells and destroying their genetic material. As a result, it is effective against bacterial infections.

During the treatment, you may observe some common side effects like feeling sick (nausea), vomiting, diarrhoea, loss of appetite and headaches. However, if these side effects persist, STOP TAKING your medicine and go to a doctor immediately.

You should take Nitfur 100mg Tablet only if your doctor has prescribed it to you. Most bacterial infections get treated within one week, while some conditions might take longer. If you stop taking it too early, the infection may return or worsen. So, it would be best if you tried to complete the prescribed dosage.

Do not take Nitfur 100mg Tablet if you are allergic to amoxicillin, penicillin antibiotics, have liver/kidney problems, and had any vaccinations. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking Nitfur 100mg Tablet. Nitfur 100mg Tablet should not be used during labour or delivery because there is a possibility that its use at this stage may affect the baby. If you want to breastfeed, please consult your doctor first.

Nitfur 100mg Tablet is used in the treatment of bacterial infections like urinary tract infections (UTIs), including bladder infections, cystitis, and kidney infections. The detailed uses of Nitfur 100mg Tablet are as follows:

• Urinary tract infections (UTIs): Nitfur 100mg Tablet treats urinary tract infections caused by bacteria like E. coli, by stopping the growth of bacteria, helping to relieve symptoms and clear the infection.
• Bladder Infection: Nitfur 100mg Tablet treats bladder infections by killing the bacteria that cause the infection, helping to relieve symptoms like burning during urination and frequent urination.
• Cystitis: Nitfur 100mg Tablet is commonly used to treat cystitis, which is inflammation of the bladder often caused by bacterial infections. It helps to alleviate symptoms and clear the infection.
• Kidney infections: Nitfur 100mg Tablet may also provide relief from symptoms associated with kidney infections, which are often caused by bacteria.

• Nitfur 100mg Tablet can be taken with or without food or as advised by your doctor.
• Follow your doctor's instructions on the dosage and timing of this medication.
• Swallow Nitfur 100mg Tablet as a whole with a glass of water.
• Do not crush, break, or chew it.

• Nitfur 100mg Tablet contains antibiotic Nitrofurantoin, which helps in treating and preventing a wide range of bacterial infections like urinary tract infections, cystitis and kidney infections.
• This medicine is mainly effective for conditions caused by most susceptible bacteria (susceptible strains of Escherichia coli, enterococci, staphylococci, Citrobacter, Klebsiella and Enterobacter).
• It is bactericidal in nature and works by killing bacteria that cause infections by preventing the formation of the cell wall required for living.
• Nitfur 100mg Tablet also inhibits the repair of bacterial cells. Altogether, it kills the bacteria.

• Do not take Nitfur 100mg Tablet if you are allergic to it or any of its components.
• Also, avoid taking Nitfur 100mg Tablet if you have/had a severe reaction to Nitfur 100mg Tablet or any other medicines in the past, or inherited conditions such as porphyria (a blood disorder), glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency,  severe kidney disease, diabetes, or any illness-causing severe weakness, anaemia or vitamin B deficiency.
• Inform your doctor if you have or have ever had a kidney, heart, or lung transplant, a joint or tendon disorder such as rheumatoid arthritis, seizures (fits), epilepsy or if you participate in regular physical activity.
• Taking Nitfur 100mg Tablet may worsen muscle weakness in people with myasthenia gravis (a nervous system disorder that causes muscle weakness) and cause severe difficulty breathing or death.
• Grapefruit, a calcium-rich food, should be avoided along with Nitfur 100mg Tablet.
• Additionally, exposure to sunlight should be avoided while taking Nitfur 100mg Tablet, as it may increase phototoxicity or photosensitivity.
• Patients with epilepsy and irregular heartbeat (QT prolongation) should tell their doctor before taking Nitfur 100mg Tablet.
