Shelcal -OS Tablet 15 is a combination medicine primarily used to treat nutritional deficiencies, osteomalacia/rickets, vitamin D deficiency, hypoparathyroidism, renal osteodystrophy, and hypocalcaemia. It works by providing essential nutrients necessary for bone formation and maintenance. Common side effects include stomach pain, itching, rash, constipation, stomach upset or gas. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking any other medicines or have pre-existing medical conditions.

Drug-Drug Interactions

Drug-Drug Interaction: Shelcal -OS Tablet 15 may interact with antacids containing magnesium, heart-related drugs (digoxin), water pills (furosemide), anticonvulsants (carbamazepine, phenytoin, primidone), painkillers (aspirin), an antidepressant (duloxetine), iron supplements (ferrous sulfate) and thyroid drugs (levothyroxine).

Drug-Food Interaction: Avoid spinach, rhubarb, bran, whole grains, soft drinks, caffeine and alcohol with Shelcal -OS Tablet 15 as they may reduce the absorption of calcium.

Drug-Disease Interaction: Avoid taking Shelcal -OS Tablet 15 if you have hypercalcaemia (high calcium levels in the blood) or calcification (high calcium levels in body tissues). If you have granulomas (small areas of inflammation), sarcoidosis, cancer, parathyroid gland disorder, kidney stones or any other kidney problems, inform your physician before taking Shelcal -OS Tablet 15.

How does the drug interact with Shelcal-OS Tablet:
Co-administration of Shelcal-OS Tablet may interfere with the absorption of Raltegravir and reduce its effectiveness.

How to manage the interaction:
Taking Shelcal-OS Tablet with Raltegravir should be avoided. Consult the doctor if you have any concerns, the doctor may recommend alternatives that do not interact with raltegravir. Do not discontinue the medication without consulting a doctor.

How does the drug interact with Shelcal-OS Tablet:
Co-administration of Shelcal-OS Tablet may interfere with the absorption of Gefitinib and reduce its effectiveness.

How to manage the interaction:
Although there is an interaction, Shelcal-OS Tablet can be taken with Gefitinib if prescribed by the doctor. However, Gefitinib and Shelcal-OS Tablet should not be taken orally at the same time. Maintain a gap of 2-6 hours between both medicines. Do not discontinue using any medications without consulting a doctor.

Co-administration of Dolutegravir with Shelcal-OS Tablet can reduce the effectiveness of dolutegravir.

How to manage the interaction:
Although there is an interaction, Shelcal-OS Tablet can be taken with dolutegravir if prescribed by the doctor. However, dolutegravir and Shelcal-OS Tablet should not be taken orally at the same time. Maintain a gap of 2-6 hours between both medicines. Do not discontinue using any medications without consulting a doctor.

Co-administration of Shelcal-OS Tablet may lower the effectiveness of Patiromer calcium in binding potassium.

How to manage the interaction:
Although there is an interaction, Shelcal-OS Tablet can be taken with Patiromer calcium if prescribed by the doctor. Consult the prescriber if you experience symptoms such as metabolic alkalosis like nausea, vomiting, tremor, muscle twitching, lightheadedness, numbness or tingling, prolonged muscle spasms, slowed breathing, irregular heartbeat, and confusion. Do not discontinue the medication without a doctor's advice.

Co-administration of Shelcal-OS Tablet with Ketoconazole may decrease the effects of Ketoconazole.

How to manage the interaction:
Although there is an interaction, Shelcal-OS Tablet can be taken with Ketoconazole if prescribed by the doctor. However, maintain a gap of 2 or more hours between both medicines. Do not discontinue the medication without consulting a doctor.

How to manage the interaction:
Consumption of foods high in oxalic acid (spinach or rhubarb) with Alfacalcidol and Calcium carbonate may decrease calcium absorption. Avoid foods high in oxalic acid (spinach or rhubarb) while being treated with Alfacalcidol and Calcium carbonate.
