Talecalm-5 Tablet is used to treat schizophrenia. It may also be used to treat anxiety and depression. It contains Trifluoperazine which works by inhibiting the chemical messenger (dopamine) that regulates mood, behaviour, and emotions. Drug-Drug Interaction: Talecalm-5 Tablet may have interaction with high blood pressure-lowering medicines (guanethidine), opioid pain killers (codeine), medicines used to decrease saliva and lung secretions (atropine, procyclidine), antipsychotics (promazine, prochlorperazine, chlorpromazine), anticonvulsants (lamotrigine, pregabalin), antiparkinson drug (levodopa), blood thinner (warfarin), a medicine used to treat iron poisoning (desferrioxamine), heart-related medicines (disopyramide, procainamide, quinidine, amiodarone, sotalol).

Drug-Food Interaction: Talecalm-5 Tablet may interact with alcohol. Therefore, avoid alcohol intake while taking Talecalm-5 Tablet as it may cause adverse effects such as severe dizziness or fainting, irregular heartbeats, drowsiness, uncontrollable movements, fits, and high or low body temperature.

Drug-Disease Interaction: Avoid taking Talecalm-5 Tablet if you have blood disorders, liver problems, or the heart's inability to maintain adequate circulation. If you have Parkinson’s disease, fits, narrow-angle glaucoma, myasthenia gravis (muscle weakness), enlarged prostate gland, dementia (decline in memory, intelligence or communication), uncontrolled high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, have a family history of stroke or blood clots, liver, heart or brain problems, inform your doctor before taking Talecalm-5 Tablet .

Co-administration of Metoclopramide with Talecalm-5 Tablet can increase the risk of side effects like uncontrolled movement disorder.

How to manage the interaction:
Taking Metoclopramide with Talecalm-5 Tablet is generally avoided as it can possibly result in an interaction, it can be taken if your doctor has advised it. However, if you experience muscle spasms or movements that you can't stop or control, such as lip smacking, chewing, puckering, frowning or scowling, tongue thrusting, teeth clenching, jaw twitching, blinking, eye-rolling, shaking or jerking of arms and legs, tremor, jitteriness, restlessness, pacing, and foot tapping., contact your doctor immediately. Do not discontinue any medications without consulting a doctor.
How does the drug interact with Talecalm-5 Tablet:
Co-administration of Talecalm-5 Tablet with Ziprasidone can increase the risk of irregular heart rhythm.

How to manage the interaction:
Taking Talecalm-5 Tablet with Ziprasidone together can possibly result in an interaction, but it can be taken if a doctor has advised it. However, consult a doctor immediately if you experience any symptoms such as sudden dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, shortness of breath, or heart palpitations.
