Toficalm 50 Tablet is used to treat depression and associated anxiety with depression. It contains Tofisopam, which reduces tension, creates a feeling of well-being, relieves anxiety, helps you sleep better, and increases your energy levels so that you can perform daily activities. It may cause side effects such as loss of appetite, dryness in the mouth, nausea, insomnia (difficulty in sleeping), and headache. Before taking this medicine, you should tell your doctor if you are allergic to any of its components or if you are pregnant/breastfeeding, and about all the medications you are taking and pre-existing medical conditions.

I am suffering from depression. Can I take Toficalm 50 Tablet to treat it?

Toficalm 50 Tablet contains Tofisopam, which is mainly used to manage anxiety rather than treat depression. It is not considered a first-line medication for treating depressive disorders. In some cases, it may be prescribed if anxiety symptoms are present along with depression, but this should only be decided by a doctor. Depression is usually treated with antidepressant medications and psychological therapies, depending on the severity. Please avoid self-medicating and consult a doctor or psychiatrist for a proper assessment before starting any medication, especially if your symptoms are worsening or affecting daily life.

Drug-Drug Interaction: This medicine may have interactions with other benzodiazepines (bromazepam, diazepam, lorazepam), antianxiety or antiepileptic medicines (like carbamazepine, fluvoxamine, phenobarbital, phenytoin, primidone), antifungal drugs (ketoconazole, itraconazole, voriconazole, fluconazole), acidity medicine (aluminum hydroxide, calcium carbonate, omeprazole, cimetidine), immuno-suppressant (cyclosporine), heart medicines (digoxin, digitoxin, isoniazid).
