My eyesight is getting weaker every day, and I cannot see at night even though my day vision is clear. What medicine, supplements, or eye drops should I use for this?

Difficulty seeing at night while daytime vision remains clear can occur due to vitamin A deficiency, uncorrected refractive error, cataract, retinal problems such as retinitis pigmentosa, diabetes, or other eye conditions. There is no single eye drop that cures night vision problems without identifying the cause. Doctors may advise supplements such as Vitamin A only if deficiency is confirmed. Please consult an ophthalmologist for a detailed eye and retina examination, and you may need tests such as vision testing, retinal evaluation, and blood sugar assessment. Seek medical attention promptly if the problem is worsening rapidly or associated with flashes, floaters, or peripheral vision loss.

Is the Vitamin A chewable tablet made from a vegan source?

Vitamin A chewable tablets are not always vegan, as the source of vitamin A may vary between fish liver oil, animal fats, synthetic retinol, or plant-based beta-carotene. Some formulations may also contain animal-derived excipients such as gelatin or lactose, making them unsuitable for vegans. To ensure it is vegan, check the product label for vegan certification or confirm with the manufacturer or pharmacist.

A dermatologist prescribed Vitamin A 50,000 IU chewable tablets twice daily for hair loss. The course was for 15 days, but I continued it for 22 days. I read that high doses of Vitamin A may not be safe. Should I be concerned about this dose?

Vitamin A supports healthy hair, skin, and vision, but excessive intake can be unsafe. The recommended daily intake for adults is around 2,300–3,000 IU, while the maximum safe long-term limit is about 10,000 IU per day. Doctors may prescribe high-dose Vitamin A (50,000 IU tablets) for short-term medical use under supervision, but taking 50,000 IU twice daily (100,000 IU per day) for longer than advised increases the risk of Vitamin A toxicity. Possible symptoms include headache, dizziness, fatigue, dry skin, nausea, liver issues, and in some cases, worsening hair loss. Since you have exceeded the prescribed duration (22 days instead of 15), it’s best to stop the supplement and consult your dermatologist or physician for review and further guidance. Future Vitamin A use should always be within the prescribed duration and dose.

Are these Vitamin A Chewable Tablets 100% vegetarian?
