Acefil-BD Tablet is a combination medication used to treat certain parasitic infections such as Bancroft's filariasis, Eosinophilic lung, Loiasis, and River blindness. Bancroft's filariasis, also known as elephantiasis, is caused by thread-like worms that live inside the human lymphatic system. The lymphatic system of the body consists of fluid and is responsible for fighting infections. This disease is transmitted from person to person through the bites of mosquitoes and black flies.

Acefil-BD Tablet is a combination of two drugs: Cetirizine (antihistamine) and Diethylcarbamazine (anthelmintic). Cetirizine belongs to the class of antihistamines (anti-allergic drugs) that work by blocking the action of histamine, a substance responsible for causing allergic reactions.  It helps to provide relief from allergic symptoms. Diethylcarbamazine is an anthelmintic (anti-parasitic) that works by causing paralysis of the worms by reducing muscular activity.

Take Acefil-BD Tablet as prescribed by your doctor. You are advised to take Acefil-BD Tablet for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you based on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience dizziness, headache, dry mouth, sore throat, runny nose, nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, drowsiness, or tiredness. Most of these side effects of Acefil-BD Tablet do not require medical attention and typically resolve on their own over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

If you are allergic to Acefil-BD Tablet or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult a doctor before using Acefil-BD Tablet . • Treatment of Bancroft's filariasis: Acefil-BD Tablet is effective in killing Wuchereria bancrofti filarial worms and reducing allergic symptoms associated with the infection.
• Treatment of Eosinophilic lung: Acefil-BD Tablet helps destroy filarial worms trapped in lung tissue and reduces eosinophil-mediated lung inflammation
• Treatment of Loiasis: Acefil-BD Tablet is used to kill Loa loa worms and helps relieve allergic symptoms caused by the parasitic infection.
• Treatment of River blindness (onchocerciasis): Although Acefil-BD Tablet is rarely used to treat river blindness due to the risk of severe adverse reactions, it may be used under medical supervision in certain cases.

• Acefil-BD Tablet can be taken with food to avoid stomach upset or as advised by the doctor.
• Follow your doctor's instructions on the dosage and timing of Acefil-BD Tablet .
• Swallow Acefil-BD Tablet as a whole with a glass of water.
• Do not break, crush, or chew it.

If you have fits, urinary retention or severe kidney problems, inform your doctor before taking Acefil-BD Tablet .
