About ALBID 400MG TABLET

 ALBID 400MG TABLET belongs to a group of antiparasitic drugs called 'anthelmintic' used to treat parasites worm infections like neurocysticercosis (infection caused by pork tapeworm) and cystic hydatid disease (infection caused by dog tapeworm). Additionally, ALBID 400MG TABLET is also used to treat infections caused by roundworms, hookworms, threadworm, whipworm, pinworm, flukes, and other parasites. 

ALBID 400MG TABLET contains ‘Albendazole’ which works by inhibiting tubulin polymerisation. This causes metabolic disruption and energy depletion in the parasite, which leads to its immobilisation. Thereby, ALBID 400MG TABLET kills the susceptible helminth and treats the infection. 

Take ALBID 400MG TABLET as prescribed. You are advised to take ALBID 400MG TABLET for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical condition. You may experience certain common side-effects such as stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, headache, and dizziness in some cases. Most of these side-effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side-effects persistently.

ALBID 400MG TABLET might increase the chances of getting an infection; maintain proper hygiene, and try to stay away from people with infections, flu or cold. Consult your doctor if you notice unusual bleeding or bruising as you may bleed or bruise easily while taking ALBID 400MG TABLET. Do not take ALBID 400MG TABLET if you are pregnant or planning for pregnancy as it may cause foetal harm. Do not breastfeed during and for minimum 5 days after treatment with ALBID 400MG TABLET. ALBID 400MG TABLET may cause dizziness, so be cautious while driving. ALBID 400MG TABLET can be given to children above 2 years if prescribed by the doctor. Directions for Use

Take ALBID 400MG TABLET with food. The tablet form of ALBID 400MG TABLET should be swallowed as a whole with a glass of water; do not chew, or crush the tablet. The liquid form of ALBID 400MG TABLET should be taken by mouth using the measuring cup provided by the pack; shake the bottle well before each use. Depending on your medical condition, your doctor will decide how long you need to take ALBID 400MG TABLET.

Like all medicines, ALBID 400MG TABLET can also cause side-effects, although not everybody experiences them. Do not take ALBID 400MG TABLET if you are allergic to any of its contents. ALBID 400MG TABLET may cause bone marrow suppression, aplastic anaemia, and agranulocytosis. Inform your doctor if you have/had liver disease; if you have any surgery, including dental surgery. Consult your doctor immediately if you experience seizures, vomiting, headache, extreme tiredness, or behaviour changes while taking ALBID 400MG TABLET. Regular monitoring of blood cell count and liver function is advised during treatment with ALBID 400MG TABLET. ALBID 400MG TABLET causes metabolic disruption and energy depletion in the parasite, which leads to its immobilisation. Thereby, ALBID 400MG TABLET kills the susceptible helminth and treats the infection.

For neurocysticercosis, ALBID 400MG TABLET is usually prescribed for 8-30 days. For cystic hydatid disease, ALBID 400MG TABLET is usually prescribed for 28 days, followed by a 14 day break, and repeated for a total of 3 cycles.

Do not discontinue ALBID 400MG TABLET without consulting your doctor. To treat your condition effectually continue taking ALBID 400MG TABLET for as long as prescribed. Do not be reluctant to speak with your doctor if you feel any difficulty while taking ALBID 400MG TABLET.

You are recommended to avoid planning for pregnancy while taking ALBID 400MG TABLET as it may cause foetal harm. A pregnancy test should be done before starting the treatment with ALBID 400MG TABLET, and women must use effective birth-control while taking ALBID 400MG TABLET and for at least 1month after cessation of treatment.

Regular monitoring of blood count at the beginning of each cycle therapy and for every 2weeks while taking ALBID 400MG TABLET is advised for all patients. Treatment with ALBID 400MG TABLET should be discontinued if a significant decrease in blood cell count is observed.

Treatment with ALBID 400MG TABLET has been associated with mild to moderate elevations of liver enzymes. These elevations generally return to normal upon discontinuation of ALBID 400MG TABLET. Liver function tests should be performed before each treatment cycle and for every 2weeks during the treatment. Treatment with ALBID 400MG TABLET should be discontinued if the liver enzymes exceed twice the upper limit of normal.

ALBID 400MG TABLET might increase the chances of getting an infection. Maintain proper hygiene and try to stay away from people with infections, flu or cold.

You may bleed or bruise easily while taking ALBID 400MG TABLET. Be cautious while using sharp objects and try to avoid injuries. Consult your doctor if you notice unusual bleeding or bruising.
