About Amlovas-5 Tablet
Amlovas-5 Tablet is primarily taken for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure) and angina (chest pain). Hypertension is a lifelong condition in which the force exerted by the blood against the artery walls becomes high.
Amlovas-5 Tablet contains Amlodipine, which reduces the workload on the heart and makes the heart more efficient at pumping blood throughout the body.
You may have common side effects like headaches, feeling exhausted and swollen ankles that usually resolve after some time. You must closely monitor your blood pressure if you have ever had a stroke or heart attack, or are currently taking other blood pressure-lowering pills.
Take Amlovas-5 Tablet with or without food as prescribed by your doctor with a full glass of water. Amlovas-5 Tablet may be prescribed alone or in combination with other blood pressure-lowering medicines depending upon your blood pressure levels. Do not chew, bite, or break the medicine.

- Amlovas-5 Tablet should not be given to the people allergic to Amlovas-5 Tablet .
- Inform your physician if you have low blood pressure (less than 90 mm of Hg), have had heart attack, or have kidney disease or liver disease before taking Amlovas-5 Tablet .
- Besides this, it is contraindicated in patients with aortic stenosis (heart valve problem).
- Amlovas-5 Tablet can pass into breast milk, but its effect on the baby is not known. So, it is better to tell your doctor if you are taking Amlovas-5 Tablet and breastfeeding.
- Amlovas-5 Tablet is to be used in pregnant women only if suggested by the physician.

The consumption of grapefruit juice with Amlovas-5 Tablet may slightly increase plasma concentrations of Amlovas-5 Tablet. Avoid consuming grapefruit juice while being treated with Amlovas-5 Tablet. However, if you experience headache, hypotension, syncope, tachycardia, or oedema consult a doctor.
Diet & Lifestyle Advise
- Keep your weight under control with a BMI of 19.5-24.9.
- Do regular physical activity or exercise for at least 150 minutes per week, or about 30 minutes most days of the week. Doing this can help you to lower your high blood pressure by about five mmHg.
- Opt for a diet rich in whole grains, fruits, veggies and low-fat dairy products.
- Limit intake of sodium chloride (table salt) in your daily diet to 2300 mg per day or less, ideally 1500 mg or less, for most adults.
- If you are taking alcohol, then only one serving for women and two servings for men is advisable.
- Quitting smoking is the best strategy to lower the risk of heart disease.
