Anaproct Ointment is a rectal ointment used to relieve pain, itching, swelling, and irritation caused by haemorrhoids (piles) and other painful conditions around the anus. It contains allantoin, hydrocortisone, lidocaine, and zinc oxide, which work together to soothe discomfort, reduce inflammation, protect irritated skin, and support natural healing.
This ointment provides temporary relief from haemorrhoid symptoms and discomfort caused by minor irritation or tears around the anus. It reduces pain and itching while protecting the affected skin. If your symptoms do not improve within 7 days, keep returning, or occur with ongoing rectal bleeding, consult your doctor. Some haemorrhoids may require further examination or a medical procedure if treatment with ointment and lifestyle changes is not enough.
Use this ointment exactly as directed by your doctor. It is usually applied after a bowel movement. Do not apply more than recommended or use it for longer than advised. Eating fibre-rich foods, drinking enough water, and avoiding straining during bowel movements can help keep stools soft and support recovery.
Mild burning, stinging, redness, dryness, or irritation may occur after application. These effects are usually temporary. Stop using the ointment and contact your doctor if you develop severe irritation, worsening pain, signs of infection, thinning of the skin, or new or increased rectal bleeding. Prolonged or excessive use may increase hydrocortisone absorption and, in rare cases, affect the body’s natural production of steroid hormones.
Do not use Anaproct Ointment if you are allergic to any of its ingredients or have an untreated infection in the affected area. Tell your doctor if you have diabetes, damaged or thinning skin, severe rectal bleeding, or another rectal condition. Children should use this ointment only under medical supervision. If you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, breastfeeding, or an older adult, consult your doctor before use. Also tell your doctor about other medicines you use, especially steroid medicines or products applied to the same area.
