About APLAZD 0.25MG TABLET

APLAZD 0.25MG TABLET belongs to a group of medications called Benzodiazepines (BZD) that are primarily used for the treatment of anxiety disorders and prevention of seizures (fits) due to epilepsy.

An anxiety disorder is a mental health disorder characterized by feelings of excessive fear or worry, that affects an individual's daily activities. On the other hand, Epilepsy is a chronic disorder characterized by episodes of seizures (fits). In this condition, there is a chemical change in the brain cells (neurons) that leads to a sudden surge of electrical activity in the brain followed by sudden jerky movements of limbs or a part of the body.

APLAZD 0.25MG TABLET works by increasing levels of brain cell (neuron) calming chemical, known as gamma-amino-butyric-acid (GABA) in your brain, that helps to relieve anxiety, stop seizures attacks (fits), and cause relaxation of the tense muscles. Besides this, APLAZD 0.25MG TABLET also relieves temporary insomnia (sleeplessness) due to anxiety disorders.

You can take APLAZD 0.25MG TABLET with food or without food. It should be swallowed whole with a glass of water. Do not chew, bite, or break it. Your doctor will advise you how often you take your tablets based on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience daytime drowsiness, disturbed sleep, light-headedness or dizziness. Most of these side effects of APLAZD 0.25MG TABLET do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, please reach out to your doctor.

Do not take this medicine if you have any lung disease, muscle weakness (myasthenia gravis), sleeping disorders or difficulty in sleeping (sleep apnoea), severe liver disease, or a problem with alcohol or other prescription drugs. APLAZD 0.25MG TABLET is a habit-forming drug and, hence there is a risk of forming a dependence on this medicine. Therefore, before stopping this medicine, consult your doctor as it may cause withdrawal symptoms like anxiety, increased heart rate, tremor, or general unwell feeling.

There is no clinical evidence that APLAZD 0.25MG TABLET affects fertility in either men or women. But, if you are trying to get pregnant, consult your doctor.

APLAZD 0.25MG TABLET is a Schedule X and a habit-forming drug. It is not likely to be addictive if you take it for 2-4 weeks. However, if the doctor has prescribed you for more than 2-4 weeks, your doctor may reduce your dose before completely stopping it.
