Asmotone Plus Syrup is used to treat cough associated with mucus. Coughing (dry or productive) is the body’s way of clearing irritants (such as allergens, mucus, or smoke) from the airways, thereby preventing respiratory infections.
Asmotone Plus Syrup is a combination of three drugs, namely Guaifenesin, Terbutaline and Bromhexine. Guaifenesin is an expectorant that works by increasing the volume of fluid in the airways, reducing the stickiness of mucus and helping to remove it from the airways. Terbutaline is a bronchodilator that relaxes muscles and widens the airways. Thus, it makes breathing easier. Bromhexine is a mucolytic agent (cough/sputum thinner) that thins and loosens phlegm (mucus) in the lungs, windpipe and nose. Thus, it helps cough up easily.
