About AUGPEN LB 375MG TABLET

AUGPEN LB 375MG TABLET belongs to the class of medications called ‘antibiotics’ used to treat bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, skin, urinary tract, tonsillitis, bronchitis, and pneumonia. AUGPEN LB 375MG TABLET doesn’t treat infections caused by the virus, including cold and flu.

AUGPEN LB 375MG TABLET is a combination of three medicines: Amoxicillin, Clavulanic acid, and Lactobacillus. Amoxicillin is a penicillin antibiotic and shows bactericidal (kills bacteria) activity. It works by preventing bacterial cell covering (protective cell wall) necessary for their survival. Clavulanic acid boosts the efficacy of Amoxicillin. Lactobacillus is used as a probiotic. It helps balance the number of beneficial bacteria in the digestive tract (gut) to manage water loss (diarrhoea) due to antibiotics or infections. Together, AUGPEN LB 375MG TABLET helps treat bacterial infections and cope with the antibiotic's side effect, i.e. infectious diarrhoea.

AUGPEN LB 375MG TABLET is available in the form of tablets and syrup. You should take this medicine as prescribed by your doctor. The common side-effects of AUGPEN LB 375MG TABLET are nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, bloating, and gas. These side-effects usually go away without any medical attention after the completion of the course of therapy. However, consult a doctor if any of these side-effects persist or get worsen.

Do not take AUGPEN LB 375MG TABLET if you are allergic to any antibiotics (especially penicillin), clavulanic acid, or other ingredients present in it. Before taking AUGPEN LB 375MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you have liver disease, kidney disease, a history of jaundice (yellowing of the skin) with an antibiotic, glandular fever (fever with a sore throat, swollen glands, and extreme tiredness), urination problems, weak immune system (by disease or using medicine), short bowel syndrome (physical or functional loss of small intestine), fits, and inflammation of the large intestine. Also, inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not take AUGPEN LB 375MG TABLET on your own as self-medication, as it may cause antibiotic resistance (failure of antibiotics to act against bacterial infections).
