About Calonat-D Tablet

Calonat-D Tablet is a nutritional supplement primarily used to treat low blood calcium levels. It effectively treats various conditions, such as vitamin D deficiency, osteoporosis (characterised by weak bones), latent tetany (a muscle disease associated with low blood calcium levels), and rickets or osteomalacia (a condition characterised by softening of bones due to low calcium levels).

Calonat-D Tablet contains Calcium citrate malate and Vitamin D3. Calonat-D Tablet works by increasing calcium and vitamin D levels in the body, thereby supporting the essential functions necessary for bone formation and maintenance. Together, they help prevent bone loss, support bone growth, and reduce muscle cramps caused by low calcium levels.

Calonat-D Tablet is likely safe to consume. In some cases, it may cause common side effects like constipation, stomach upset, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, weakness, tiredness, and headache. These side effects typically do not require medical attention and usually resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to a doctor if the side effects persist or worsen.

Take Calonat-D Tablet as advised. Your physician will decide the dosage based on your medical condition. You can take Calonat-D Tablet with or without food. It is recommended not to exceed the recommended dose of Calonat-D Tablet . Do not chew, crush or break the medicine.

How Calonat-D Tablet Works

Calonat-D Tablet is a combination of two drugs: Calcium citrate malate (calcium supplement) and Cholecalciferol (vitamin D3). Calcium citrate malate is used to prevent or treat a calcium deficiency. It provides essential nutrients to maintain bone formation. Cholecalciferol helps the body to absorb calcium and phosphorus. Thereby, it increases calcium levels in the blood and helps to build and maintain strong bones.

What if I have taken an overdose of Calonat-D Tablet

Take Calonat-D Tablet only as suggested by the physician. Avoid exceeding the recommended dose as it could lead to an overdose. Symptoms of overdose may include vomiting, nausea, loss of appetite, headache, mental/mood changes, weakness, drowsiness, and tiredness. If you experience these symptoms or suspect you have taken an overdose, seek immediate medical attention.

Drug Warnings

  • Avoid taking Calonat-D Tablet if you are allergic to it.
  • It may contain sugar or aspartame. Hence, caution should be taken in managing diabetes and phenylketonuria (a condition characterised by increased levels of an amino acid called phenylalanine).
  • Inform your doctor if you have any history of hypercalcemia (increased calcium levels in the body), kidney disease, liver disease, electrolyte imbalance, heart disease, kidney stones and hypervitaminosis D (having too much vitamin D) before taking Calonat-D Tablet .
  • Higher doses of Vitamin D than the recommended daily dose should be used in pregnant women only when advised by the doctor.

Diet & Lifestyle Advise

  • Include dairy products like milk, yogurt, cheese, or milk-based custard in your diet.
  • Eat a serving of broccoli, cabbage, bok choy (Chinese white cabbage), spinach, and other green leafy vegetables daily.
  • Snack on calcium-rich nuts like Brazil nuts or almonds.
  • Sprinkle sesame seeds over your food, vegetables, and salads. Sesame seeds are high in calcium.
  • Avoid or reduce the intake of caffeine, soft drinks, and alcohol, as they inhibit calcium absorption.
  • Replace the meat with tofu or tempeh to add extra calcium to your food.

It effectively treats various conditions caused by low calcium levels in the body, such as osteoporosis (weak and brittle bones), osteomalacia/rickets (weak bones), hypoparathyroidism (low levels of parathyroid hormone), and latent tetany (a muscle disease with low blood calcium levels).

Calonat-D Tablet contains Calcium citrate malate and Cholecalciferol. Calcium citrate malate is a calcium supplement used to prevent or treat a calcium deficiency. It provides essential nutrients to maintain bone formation. Cholecalciferol is vitamin D3 that helps the body to absorb calcium and phosphorous. Thereby, it increases calcium levels in the blood and helps to build and maintain strong bones.

You are not recommended to take Calonat-D Tablet if you have hypervitaminosis D (high vitamin D levels in the blood), as it may worsen the condition. However, please consult a doctor before using Calonat-D Tablet .

Calonat-D Tablet is not recommended for patients with malabsorption (inefficient absorption of nutrients from the bowel) syndrome. Please consult a doctor before using Calonat-D Tablet if you have malabsorption syndrome.

It is not recommended to take Calonat-D Tablet with levothyroxine, as co-administration of these two medicines may reduce the effectiveness of levothyroxine. However, if you are supposed to take both medicines, you are advised to maintain a time gap of at least 4 hours between taking Calonat-D Tablet and levothyroxine.

Calonat-D Tablet is not recommended for a patient suffering from kidney stones, as it may worsen the condition. Therefore, if you have any kidney problems or have a history of kidney stones, please inform your doctor before taking Calonat-D Tablet .
