About Cefadrox 500 mg Tablet

Cefadrox 500 mg Tablet belongs to the class of cephalosporin antibiotics. It is used to treat upper respiratory tract bacterial infections, the skin and soft tissue, and the urinary system. Bacterial infections are caused due to the multiplication of harmful bacteria inside or on the body. Infectious or harmful bacteria can make you sick and reproduce quickly in your body. These harmful bacteria produce chemicals known as toxins, which can damage tissue and make you sick.

Cefadrox 500 mg Tablet contains cefadroxil, which is a new semisynthetic cephalosporin with a broad antibacterial spectrum and a high chemotherapeutic potential when administered orally. It kills the bacteria by inhibiting cell wall synthesis, leading to cell death. Thereby it treats bacterial infections.

Use Cefadrox 500 mg Tablet as suggested by the doctor. Your doctor will advise the dose and duration based on the severity of your infection. Like all medicines, Cefadrox 500 mg Tablet also causes side effects, although not everybody gets them. Tablet/Capsule: Swallow it as a whole with water; do not crush, break or chew it.Dispersible Tablet: Check the label for directions before use. Disperse the tablet in the prescribed amount of water and swallow the contents. Do not crush, chew or swallow as a whole.Oral Suspension/syrup: Shake the bottle well before each use. Take the prescribed dose by mouth using the measuring cup/dosing syringe/dropper.Dry syrup: Check the label for directions before use. What if I have taken an overdose of Cefadrox 500 mg Tablet

Do not take more than the prescribed dose of Cefadrox 500 mg Tablet as it may cause overdose. The symptoms of overdose include allergic reaction causing dizziness or difficulty breathing, low blood pressure, increase or decrease in heartbeat, vomiting, nausea, diarrhoea cramps, skin eruptions, muscular contractions, reduced consciousness or coma. Before taking Cefadrox 500 mg Tablet , tell your doctor if you are allergic to cefadroxil, cephalosporin antibiotics, or penicillin. How does the drug interact with Cefadrox 500 mg Tablet:
Co-administration of Cefadrox 500 mg Tablet with BCG vaccine may reduce the anti-tumor activity of BCG in the bladder.
