Coughtas XT Syrup is used for the treatment of cough with mucus. The detailed uses of Coughtas XT Syrup are as follows:

Coughtas XT Syrup consists of three medicines: Ambroxol, Guaifenesin and Salbutamol. Ambroxol is an 'expectorant' and a 'mucolytic agent'; it promotes the secretion of sputum/cough and is a 'mucolytic agent' that makes sputum less viscous to make breathing easier. Being an expectorant, Guaifenesin reduces the thickness or viscosity of bronchial secretions (phlegm) and increases mucus flow, making it easier to cough. Salbutamol belongs to the class of 'bronchodilators'. It widens and relaxes the airways (bronchi) of the lungs.

• Coughtas XT Syrup can be taken with or without food or as advised by your doctor.
• Follow your doctor's instructions on the dosage and timing of this medication.
• Swallow Coughtas XT Syrup as a whole with a glass of water.
• Do not crush, break, or chew it.

• Take the medication as directed by the doctor and at regular intervals. Do not use other over the counter medications, herbal or vitamin supplements without informing your pharmacist or doctor when you take Coughtas XT Syrup.

• Know your triggers like allergens, such as pollen, dust, and food items that make your asthma and other respiratory diseases severe.

• Quit smoking and avoid passive smoking. Smoking also reduces the effectiveness of the medicine.

• Drink warm fluids while you take Coughtas XT Syrup to help loosen congestion and lubricate the throat.

• Eat a healthy diet and exercise regularly to strengthen your breathing muscles and boost your immune system.

• Learning breathing exercises will help you move more air in and out of your lungs.

Coughtas XT Syrup should be used with caution in patients heart, liver, kidney diseases, stomach ulcers, high blood pressure, thyroid disorders, inflammation of air passages, lung disorders, diabetes, seizures/fits, difficulty breathing, and hypokalemia (low potassium levels in the blood). Pregnant and breastfeeding women should use Coughtas XT Syrup with proper consultation and caution. Avoid consuming alcohol with Coughtas XT Syrup as it could lead to increased drowsiness or dizziness. Do not drive if you feel sleepy or have an increased heart rate or shakiness after taking Coughtas XT Syrup. Coughtas XT Syrup is not recommended in children below two years of age.
