About Duronet Eye Drops 5ml

Duronet Eye Drops 5ml belongs to the class of ocular medications called ‘topical corticosteroid’ used to treat inflammatory conditions after eye surgery.  It is effectively used to treat eye inflammation caused by allergies, iritis (inflammation of the coloured part of the eye (iris)), uveitis (inflammation of the middle layer of the eye (uvea)), eye injury, postinfectious pain and inflammation.

Duronet Eye Drops 5ml contains Difluprednate is a topical corticosteroid with anti-inflammatory properties and acts by inhibiting the chemicals such as prostaglandins production (chemical messengers) that make the eye red, swollen, and itchy. It is used to treat post-operative eye pain and inflammation.

Duronet Eye Drops 5ml is for external (use in the eyes) use only. Use Duronet Eye Drops 5ml as prescribed by your doctor. You are advised to use Duronet Eye Drops 5ml for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you based on your medical condition. You may experience watery eyes, irritation in the eyes, eye itching, eyes more sensitive to light in some cases. Most of these side effects of Duronet Eye Drops 5ml are temporary, do not require medical attention, and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor.

Do not use Duronet Eye Drops 5ml without consulting your doctor if you have damaged cornea, ulcers in the eye, eye infection and producing pus, open lesions in the eye, and glaucoma (a condition where the pressure inside the eye is increased). Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before using Duronet Eye Drops 5ml. If you wear contact lenses or are wearing them, remove it before using Duronet Eye Drops 5ml, and you can put it back 15 minutes after using Duronet Eye Drops 5ml. Avoid touching the eyedropper with bare hands or taking it closer to the eyelids while administering drops, since it contaminates the dropper tip and solution. If you wear contact lenses, please inform your doctor.

Postoperative Pain and Inflammation

Directions for Use

Duronet Eye Drops 5ml is available in the form of eye drops.Eye drops: Wash your hands thoroughly with water before and after use. Take the prescribed amount of dose with the dropper and squeeze out a drop without touching the eye. Wipe any excess liquid with a tissue. Do not wipe or rinse the dropper tip after use. Place the dropper back on the bottle and tighten the cap.Note: Do not touch the tip of the dropper as it may contaminate the contents. Do not place the tip directly into the eye while instilling the drop. If the dropper touches the eye, immediately squeeze two to three drops onto the tissue and wipe the dropper’s tip with saltwater. Discard any unused medicine after completing the course of therapy or within 4 weeks after opening the bottle.

In-Depth Precautions and Warning

Drug Warning

Do not take Duronet Eye Drops 5ml if you are allergic or have had a severe reaction to the corticosteroids or any of the ingredients of Duronet Eye Drops 5ml.  Please inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before starting Duronet Eye Drops 5ml. Duronet Eye Drops 5ml is not recommended for children below 1 year of age as the safety and effectiveness have not been established. Do not stop taking Duronet Eye Drops 5ml even if you feel better without asking your doctor as your symptoms may come back and may even worsen your condition. To avoid any contamination, avoid touching the tip of the dropper. Do not put to eye medication simultaneously; wait for at least 10 minutes before putting in the second medication. If you have had glaucoma (increased eye pressure), herpes simplex infection, any other eye problem, do not take Duronet Eye Drops 5ml until prescribed by your doctor. Prolonged use of corticosteroids may result in glaucoma with damage to the optic nerve, defects in visual acuity, and fields of vision. Do not use eye drops for longer than recommended by your doctor as it may suppress adrenal gland function and may increase the risk of cataracts (clouding of the eye) and also increases the risk of a second infection.

  • Alcohol

    is best to avoid alcohol while taking medication. Duronet Eye Drops 5ml makes you dehydrated and affects the eye's pressure.

  • Pregnancy

    Duronet Eye Drops 5ml is a pregnancy Category C medicine. It is not known whether Duronet Eye Drops 5ml will affect pregnant women or fetus or not. Hence, when clinically needed, Duronet Eye Drops 5ml is given to pregnant women after doing a risk/benefit assessment.

  • Breast Feeding

    It is unknown if Duronet Eye Drops 5ml passes into breastmilk. Consult your doctor before taking Duronet Eye Drops 5ml if you are breastfeeding.

  • Driving

    Duronet Eye Drops 5ml may cause vision problems. However, it will be mild and temporary in nature. So, it is advisable to avoid driving until your vision clears.

  • Liver

    Duronet Eye Drops 5ml can be used for treating eye infections in patients with liver diseases.

  • Kidney

    Duronet Eye Drops 5ml can be used for treating eye infections in patients with kidney diseases.
