About Emitus Syrup
Emitus Syrup is used in the treatment of pediatric gastroenteritis in infants and children aged 6 months to 12 years. It is also used in the prevention of nausea and vomiting associated with moderately emetogenic cancer chemotherapy in children aged six months and above. Nausea is an uneasy feeling in which a person feels an urge to vomit.
Emitus Syrup contains ondansetron, which works by blocking the action of a chemical in the body (serotonin) responsible for causing nausea and vomiting. As a result, Emitus Syrup prevents the sensation of nausea and vomiting caused by cancer chemotherapy.
Emitus Syrup may cause certain side effects in your child, such as a feeling of warmth, headache, diarrhoea, and stomach pain. These side effects generally resolve over time. However, if it does not resolve, stop giving this medicine to your child and contact the pediatrician.
Do not give more than the prescribed dose of Emitus Syrup to the child. Emitus Syrup can be given with or without food. The dose of the medicine will be decided by your pediatrician.
Avoid giving Emitus Syrup to your child if he/she is allergic to it. Keep your doctor informed about your child’s health condition, including his current medications and medical history, to rule out any side effects/interactions. Before administration, inform your doctor if your child has liver and kidney disease.
