Engefix-OZ Tablet 10's belongs to the group of 'antibacterial medications,' primarily used to treat bacterial infections. A bacterial infection is a condition in which harmful bacteria enter, multiply and infect the body. They can target any part of the body and multiply very quickly. These infections vary from minor illnesses like sore throat and ear infections to severe brain infections like meningitis and encephalitis.

Engefix-OZ Tablet 10's contains an antibiotic combination, Cefixime and Ornidazole, primarily used to treat bacterial infections. Cefixime binds to specific penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) located inside the bacterial cell wall, causing the inhibition of the third and last stage of bacterial cell wall synthesis, arresting cell wall assembly resulting in bacterial cell death. Ornidazole kills other infectious microorganisms in addition to bacteria by damaging their DNA, does preventing the bacteria to reproduce or repair by themselves.

In some cases, you may experience certain common side-effects such as nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, dizziness, tremors, headache, diarrhoea, stomach pain, flatulence. Most of these side-effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side-effects persistently.

Before starting Engefix-OZ Tablet 10's, please inform your doctor if you have any allergy (against these antibiotics), kidney or liver problems. Diet & Lifestyle Advise

  • Probiotics should be taken after taking the full course of Engefix-OZ Tablet 10's to restore some of the healthy bacteria in the intestines that may have been killed. Taking probiotics after antibiotic treatment can reduce the risk of antibiotic-associated diarrhoea. Certain fermented foods like yogurt, cheese, sauerkraut, kombucha, and kimchi can help restore the intestine's good bacteria.
  • Include more fibre-enriched food in your diet, as it can be easily digested by your gut bacteria, which helps stimulate their growth. Thus, fibre foods may help restore healthy gut bacteria after a course of antibiotics. Whole grains like whole-grain bread, brown rice should be included in your diet.
  • Avoid taking too much calcium, iron-enriched foods and drinks as it might affect the working of Engefix-OZ Tablet 10's.
  • Avoid intake of alcoholic beverages with Engefix-OZ Tablet 10's as it can make you dehydrated and affect your sleep. This can make it harder for your body to aid the Engefix-OZ Tablet 10's in fighting off infections.
