ENTEROMYCETIN OTIC 5% EAR DROPS belongs to a group of medicines called 'antibiotics' containing: Chloramphenicol (antibiotic) and Benzocaine (local anaesthetic) used to reduce pain and discomfort associated with an ear infection (bacterial). Chloramphenicol works by interfering with the formation of essential proteins required for bacterial growth. Benzocaine blocks the pain signals from the nerves to the brain, numbing the area and relieving pain. Collectively, both of them help reduce ear pain.

• Follow your doctor's instructions on the dosage and timing of this medication.
• Lie down with the affected ear facing upwards. Hold the dropper over the ear and instil the advised number of drops. Continue to lie on your side for two minutes to allow the drops to reach the base of the ear canal. Repeat the procedure for the other ear if needed.
• Avoid contamination by not touching the dropper to the ear or surrounding areas.

Do not use eye/ear drops for longer durations than your doctor recommended, as long-term use may cause cataracts (clouding of the lens) and suppression of the adrenal gland function.
