Exocin Eye Ointment 5 gm contains Ofloxacin, which works by inhibiting DNA gyrase (bacterial enzyme) that is involved in repairing and replicating the DNA (genetic material) of bacteria. Thereby, it kills bacteria and clears infection.
Use Exocin Eye Ointment 5 gm as prescribed by your doctor. Exocin Eye Ointment 5 gm is only for use in eyes. You are not recommended to wear contact lenses while using Exocin Eye Ointment 5 gm as it contains benzalkonium chloride, a preservative that changes the colour of contact lens as it may be absorbed by soft contact lens. Benzalkonium chloride also causes irritation in the eye especially if you have disorders of cornea (transparent layer at the front of eye) or dry eyes. Therefore, you are advised to remove contact lenses before using Exocin Eye Ointment 5 gm and reinsert them after 15 minutes after using Exocin Eye Ointment 5 gm. Also, inform your doctor if you experience pain, stinging or abnormal sensation in the eye after using Exocin Eye Ointment 5 gm.
