About Exocin Eye Ointment 5 gm

Exocin Eye Ointment 5 gm is used to treat bacterial eye infections, including conjunctivitis and ulcers of the cornea. Conjunctivitis (pink eye) is a common bacterial eye infection associated with the inflammation or infection of the conjunctiva (white part of the eye) and the inner eyelid. 

Exocin Eye Ointment 5 gm contains Ofloxacin, which works by inhibiting DNA gyrase (bacterial enzyme) that is involved in repairing and replicating the DNA (genetic material) of bacteria. Thereby, it kills bacteria and clears infection.

Use Exocin Eye Ointment 5 gm as prescribed by your doctor. Exocin Eye Ointment 5 gm is only for use in eyes. You are advised to use Exocin Eye Ointment 5 gm for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you based on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience dry eyes, blurred vision, eye discomfort, eye redness, mild itching, or irritation in the eye. • Pre and Post-Surgical Infection Prevention: Exocin Eye Ointment 5 gm may be used to prevent infection before or after certain eye surgeries like cataract surgery by controlling harmful bacteria in the eye.

Directions for Use

  • Follow your doctor's instructions on the dosage and timing of this medication.
  • Lie down and tilt your head backwards. Pull your lower eyelid gently with your index finger to form a pocket. Squeeze a tiny amount of the cream/ointment into the pocket of the lower eyelid. Close your eyes for 1-2 minutes.
  • Exocin Eye Ointment 5 gm is for ophthalmic use only.
  • Do not touch the tip of the tube or other dispensing tip to any surface since this may contaminate ointment.
  • If ointment becomes discolored, it should be discarded.
