About Flolact-OZ Tablet 10's

Flolact-OZ Tablet 10's belongs to the group of medicines called antibiotics used to treat bacterial infections of the urinary tract, bacterial infections by inflammation of the peritoneum, eye and ear infections, skin and soft tissue infections, sexually transmitted infections, respiratory infections, vaginal infections, protozoan infections, intra-abdominal infections, and infections during surgical procedures. It is also indicated in the treatment of diarrhoea of mixed infections in adults.

Flolact-OZ Tablet 10's is a combination of two antibiotic drugs, namely: Ofloxacin and Ornidazole. Ofloxacin inhibits DNA gyrase which is required for the replication, transcription, and repair of the DNA. Ornidazole inhibits protein synthesis and leads to cell death, thereby kills the bacteria. Together, Flolact-OZ Tablet 10's helps in treating bacterial infections.

Take Flolact-OZ Tablet 10's as prescribed. In some cases, Flolact-OZ Tablet 10's may cause side-effects such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, headache, and dizziness. Most of these side-effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if the side-effects persist or worsen.

Talk to your doctor if you experience pain in tendons, swelling, and inflammation as Flolact-OZ Tablet 10's is associated with an increased risk of tendon rupture and tendonitis. Consult your doctor before taking Flolact-OZ Tablet 10's if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Flolact-OZ Tablet 10's may cause dizziness and drowsiness, so drive only if you are alert. Avoid alcohol consumption while taking Flolact-OZ Tablet 10's as it may cause increased dizziness. Flolact-OZ Tablet 10's is not recommended for use in children.

Directions for Use

Tablet/Capsule: Swallow it as a whole with water; do not chew, break or crush the tablet/capsule. Syrup/Suspension/Drops: Take the prescribed dose by mouth using the measuring cup/dosing syringe/dropper provided by the pack; shake the pack well before each use.

Drug-Drug Interactions: Flolact-OZ Tablet 10's may interact with pain killers (aspirin, ibuprofen), antibiotics (azithromycin, sulfamethoxazole, trimethoprim, metronidazole, erythromycin), corticosteroids (dexamethasone), anti-diabetic (metformin), bronchodilator (albuterol), and diuretics (furosemide).

Drug-Food Interactions: Avoid consuming milk and dairy products.

Drug-Disease Interactions: Inform your doctor if you have colitis (inflammation in the lining of the colon), tendonitis (inflammation in tendons), CNS disorders, myasthenia gravis (neuromuscular disease), peripheral neuropathy (nerve pain), crystalluria (cloudy urine), diabetes, kidney, liver and heart problems.

    • Antibiotics can alter the useful bacteria in the stomach, which help in digestion. Therefore, you are advised to take foods rich in probiotics such as yoghurt/curd, kefir, sauerkraut, tempeh, kimchi, miso, kombucha, buttermilk, natto and cheese.
    • Eat fibre-rich food like whole grains, beans, lentils, berries, broccoli, peas and bananas.
    • Avoid foods rich in calcium, grapefruit and grapefruit juice as they might hinder the absorption of antibiotics.
    • Avoid consumption of alcohol and usage of tobacco.

    • Flolact-OZ Tablet 10's may affect coagulation test or prothrombin time (time is taken for blood clotting), liver function tests, and serum tests. Flolact-OZ Tablet 10's contains ofloxacin which might produce false-positive urine screening results for opiates. Inform the person doing the tests that you are taking Flolact-OZ Tablet 10's.
    • Flolact-OZ Tablet 10's is associated with an increased risk of tendon rupture and tendonitis. Consult your doctor immediately if you experience tendon pain, swelling or inflammation while taking Flolact-OZ Tablet 10's.

    Flolact-OZ Tablet 10's may cause photosensitivity (sensitivity to sunlight) and can make you sunburn easily. Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight or tanning beds. Always wear protective clothing and sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher before going out.

    It is recommended to complete the course of Flolact-OZ Tablet 10's even if you feel better as it is an antibiotic, and leaving it in between may lead to even severe infection. To treat your condition effectually, continue taking Flolact-OZ Tablet 10's for as long as your doctor has prescribed it.

    Co-administration of magnesium and aluminium-containing antacids, sucralfate, and iron-containing preparations with Flolact-OZ Tablet 10's may reduce the absorption. Therefore, you are advised to take Flolact-OZ Tablet 10's two hours before such preparations.

    Do not take Flolact-OZ Tablet 10's on your own as self-medication may lead to antibiotic-resistance in which antibiotics fail to act against specific bacterial infections.

    Consult your doctor before taking Flolact-OZ Tablet 10's if you have diabetes, as Flolact-OZ Tablet 10's may cause hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar levels). Regularly monitor blood sugar levels while taking Flolact-OZ Tablet 10's to avoid unpleasant events.
