About Geno-Mix 550 Tablet 10's

Geno-Mix 550 Tablet 10's is used in combination with other medicines to treat tuberculosis (TB). Tuberculosis is an infectious respiratory disease that affects the lungs but can also spread to other body parts such as the kidneys, brain, spine, and bone marrow. It is also used to treat other bacterial infections. Geno-Mix 550 Tablet 10's does not work against infections caused by the virus, including cold and flu. The bacteria causing tuberculosis (TB) are highly contagious and spread from one person to another via tiny droplets released into the air (through coughs or sneezes).

Geno-Mix 550 Tablet 10's consists of a drug called 'rifampicin', which works by inactivating a bacterial protein enzyme (RNA-polymerase) and inhibiting bacterial cell death. Geno-Mix 550 Tablet 10's acts against the bacteria called Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which causes TB (tuberculosis).

Geno-Mix 550 Tablet 10's should be taken as recommended by your doctor. It should be taken 30 minutes before food or 2 hours after food on an empty stomach. In some cases, you may experience certain common side effects, such as drowsiness, dizziness, headache, weakness, muscle pain, heartburn, diarrhoea, gas, and numbness or tingling sensations. Most of these side effects are mild and subside over time. However, if any of these effects persist, contact your doctor immediately.

Geno-Mix 550 Tablet 10's may raise liver enzymes like ALT and can cause jaundice if taken for a long time. Hence, a regular liver function test (LFT) is recommended while taking treatment with Geno-Mix 550 Tablet 10's. Maintain a gap of one hour between Geno-Mix 550 Tablet 10's and antacid medicines. Geno-Mix 550 Tablet 10's is not recommended if you are pregnant or planning for pregnancy. Avoid breastfeeding while taking Geno-Mix 550 Tablet 10's as it passes into breast milk. Geno-Mix 550 Tablet 10's may cause dizziness and vision problems; hence, avoid driving vehicles or operating machines that require mental concentration. Avoid alcohol consumption while taking Geno-Mix 550 Tablet 10's as it could lead to increased drowsiness, dizziness, and liver damage.
