About HEXAXIM INJECTION 0.5ML

HEXAXIM INJECTION 0.5ML is primarily used to prevent infections such as Diphtheria, Haemophilus influenzae type B (Hib), Hepatitis B, Pertussis, Tetanus, and Poliomyelitis in children. It is given to infants starting at 6 weeks old, followed by a booster shot at age 2.

HEXAXIM INJECTION 0.5ML contains a combination of Diphtheria Toxoid, Haemophilus influenzae Type B Conjugate, Hepatitis B Vaccine rDNA, Pertussis Toxoid, Tetanus Toxoid, and poliomyelitis virus Type 1, poliomyelitis virus Type 2 and poliomyelitis virus Type 3. This medication works by introducing a weakened or inactivated form of the disease-causing agent into the body, providing immunity or resistance against these infections.

Common side effects of HEXAXIM INJECTION 0.5ML include fever, irritability, persistent crying, vomiting, loss of appetite, and swelling, redness, pain, or tenderness at the injection site. Most of these side effects will resolve without requiring medical attention. However, if you notice any persistent side effects in your child, please consult your doctor.

Before receiving HEXAXIM INJECTION 0.5ML, inform your doctor if your child is allergic to any of its ingredients or similar vaccines. Also, tell your doctor about your child’s medication or vaccination history and any medical conditions to rule out potential side effects or interactions. HEXAXIM INJECTION 0.5ML is also not recommended for adolescents, adults, and pregnant or breastfeeding women.

Uses of HEXAXIM INJECTION 0.5ML

HEXAXIM INJECTION 0.5ML is used to prevent Diphtheria, Haemophilus influenzae type B, Hepatitis B, Pertussis, Tetanus, and Polio. The detailed uses of HEXAXIM INJECTION 0.5ML are as follows:

  • Diphtheria Toxoid: HEXAXIM INJECTION 0.5ML protects against diphtheria by inducing immunity through antibody production against the diphtheria toxin.
  • Haemophilus Influenzae Type B Conjugate: HEXAXIM INJECTION 0.5ML prevents severe infections caused by Haemophilus influenzae type B, including meningitis and pneumonia, by inducing immunity against Hib.
  • Hepatitis B Vaccine (rDNA): HEXAXIM INJECTION 0.5ML protects against hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection, which can cause liver disease, cirrhosis, and liver cancer, by inducing immunity and preventing viral replication.
  • Pertussis Toxoid: HEXAXIM INJECTION 0.5ML guards against pertussis (whooping cough) by inducing immunity against the pertussis toxin.
  • Tetanus Toxoid: HEXAXIM INJECTION 0.5ML prevents tetanus infection by inducing immunity against the tetanus toxin, which causes muscle stiffness and spasms.
  • Polio: HEXAXIM INJECTION 0.5ML protects against polio, a viral disease that can lead to paralysis, by preventing poliovirus infection and transmission.

Key Benefits

  • Protects against six dangerous illnesses: invasive Haemophilus influenzae type B infection, tetanus, pertussis, hepatitis B, poliomyelitis, and diphtheria.
  • Aids in the production of defensive antibodies by the immune system to combat infections in the future.
  • Lowers the chance of serious sickness, hospitalisation, and potentially fatal consequences brought on by these conditions.
  • Aids in the prevention of dangerous Hib-related diseases like pneumonia and meningitis.
  • Reduces the number of injections required for childhood immunisation by combining six vaccinations into a single injection.
  • When all required doses and booster shots are administered in accordance with the vaccination schedule, it offers long-lasting protection.

Directions for Use

  • HEXAXIM INJECTION 0.5ML will be administered in three doses, followed by a booster shot or as prescribed by a doctor.
  • HEXAXIM INJECTION 0.5ML will be administered by a healthcare professional in a medical setting.
  • Do not administer it to your child on your own.
  • HEXAXIM INJECTION 0.5ML will be administered intramuscularly, usually into the outer thigh in infants or the upper arm (deltoid muscle) in older children.
  • Ensure your child receives all doses of HEXAXIM INJECTION 0.5ML to gain full protection against the disease.

How HEXAXIM INJECTION 0.5ML Works

HEXAXIM INJECTION 0.5ML contains a combination of six vaccines: Diphtheria Toxoid, Haemophilus influenzae Type B Conjugate, Hepatitis B Vaccine rDNA, Pertussis Toxoid, Tetanus Toxoid, and Inactivated Poliomyelitis Trivalent Vaccine. This medication works by introducing a weakened or inactivated form of the disease-causing agent into the body, stimulating the immune system to develop antibodies and antitoxins to fight against the specific disease. HEXAXIM INJECTION 0.5ML effectively provides immunity or resistance against these infections without actually triggering the illness.
