Infanrix Hexa Vaccine is primarily used to prevent infections such as Diphtheria, Haemophilus influenzae type B (Hib), Hepatitis B, Pertussis, Tetanus, and Poliomyelitis in children. It is given to infants starting at 6 weeks old, followed by a booster shot at age 2.
Infanrix Hexa Vaccine contains a combination of Diphtheria Toxoid, Haemophilus influenzae Type B Conjugate, Hepatitis B Vaccine rDNA, Pertussis Toxoid, Tetanus Toxoid, and poliomyelitis virus Type 1, poliomyelitis virus Type 2 and poliomyelitis virus Type 3. This medication works by introducing a weakened or inactivated form of the disease-causing agent into the body, providing immunity or resistance against these infections.
Common side effects of Infanrix Hexa Vaccine include fever, irritability, persistent crying, vomiting, loss of appetite, and swelling, redness, pain, or tenderness at the injection site. Most of these side effects will resolve without requiring medical attention. However, if you notice any persistent side effects in your child, please consult your doctor.
