Lamokin 50mg Tablet DT belongs to a group of anticonvulsants or anti-epileptics used to treat epilepsy/seizures/fits. Additionally, Lamokin 50mg Tablet DT also treats bipolar disorder. Epilepsy is a sudden rush of electricity in the brain. In epilepsy, the brain's electrical rhythms become imbalanced, resulting in recurrent seizures, sometimes leading to an unconscious state. Bipolar disorder is a severe brain disorder in which a person experiences extreme mood swings (variance in thinking) and frequent mood and behavioural changes.

Lamokin 50mg Tablet DT contains Lamotrigine, which works by blocking sodium channels and reducing the release of glutamate, a brain chemical that can trigger seizures or mood changes. This calms excessive nerve activity, helping control seizures in epilepsy and reducing the risk of mood episodes in bipolar disorder.

You are advised to take Lamokin 50mg Tablet DT for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side effects such as skin rash, headache, nausea, vomiting, dryness in the mouth, insomnia (difficulty in sleeping), sleepiness, dizziness, back pain, fatigue, abdominal pain, blurred vision, double vision, impaired coordination, nasal congestion (stuffy nose), and infection. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.

To treat your condition effectually, do not stop taking Lamokin 50mg Tablet DT without consulting your doctor to avoid worsening of seizures. Do not take Lamokin 50mg Tablet DT if you are pregnant or planning for pregnancy unless prescribed by the doctor, as it could lead to serious congenital disabilities. If you are of childbearing age, use effective contraception while taking Lamokin 50mg Tablet DT. Consult your doctor before taking Lamokin 50mg Tablet DT if you are breastfeeding. Contact your doctor if your child gets her first period whilst on treatment with Lamokin 50mg Tablet DT. Do not drive or operate machinery as Lamokin 50mg Tablet DT causes drowsiness and dizziness. Avoid consuming alcohol along with Lamokin 50mg Tablet DT as it could lead to increased dizziness and sleepiness. Consult your doctor immediately if you experience suicidal tendencies.

• Epilepsy/seizures: Lamokin 50mg Tablet DT controls seizures by stabilizing abnormal electrical activity in the brain, reducing their frequency and severity.
• Bipolar Disorder: Lamokin 50mg Tablet DT helps prevent mood swings or depressive episodes, maintaining emotional balance in individuals with bipolar disorder.

• Lamokin 50mg Tablet DT can be taken with or without food, as food does not impact its effectiveness or absorption.
• It is usually taken once or twice a day or as directed by your doctor.
• Dissolve the prescribed amount of Lamokin 50mg Tablet DT in a glass of water and consume it immediately.
• Do not crush, chew, or swallow the tablet as a whole.
• Do not touch Lamokin 50mg Tablet DT with wet hands.

• Lamokin 50mg Tablet DT contains Lamotrigine, which helps control seizures by stabilizing abnormal electrical activity in the brain.
• It reduces the release of glutamate, a chemical messenger that can trigger seizures, preventing excessive nerve overactivity.

These reactions may be life-threatening, especially in children, at high starting doses, or when combined with valproic acid.
• Inform your doctor about all your existing medical conditions, particularly liver, kidney, or pancreas problems, urea cycle disorders, inflammation of the brain and spinal cord lining, porphyria (a blood pigment disorder), or low platelet levels.
